Q: What fiber patch cord should I choose for this converter?

Use a duplex LC-LC multi-mode (OM1/OM2/OM3/OM4 is ok) patch cord. The included SFP runs at 850-nm. If needed, you can swap the SFP for single mode or other options - the SFP slot is universal.

Q: I plan to use it as a standalone unit – what should I watch for?

This converter cannot replace ISP ONTs (e.g., FiOS, GPON). It works only with standard Ethernet-to-fiber links. Ensure the wavelength matches on both ends (e.g., 1310nm TX - 1310nm RX) and use a compatible LC UPC patch cord

Q: What is the most common fault if the converter does not come up?

The most common issue is TX/RX mismatch—swap the RX and TX fibers at one side. If using it standalone, ensure the wavelengths match on both ends (e.g., 850nm TX - 850nm RX). Also check if fiber module speeds match - i.e. 100FX or 1000FX

Q: Can I use this as a replacement for Verizon FiOS, Google Fiber, or other ISP fiber services CPE?

No, this cannot replace ISP ONTs like Verizon FiOS, Google Fiber, AT&T Fiber, or CenturyLink. These providers use GPON/XGS-PON, which requires their own ONT. This converter works only for standard Ethernet-to-fiber extensions, not ISP connections.

Q: Can I use different SFP modules, can I replace module?

Yes! The SFP slot supports all types of fiber modules, including single-mode, multimode, BiDi, CWDM, and more. It works with both 155M and 1.25G SFPs, giving you full flexibility to match your network needs.

Economical and easy to use

These are simple to use and they work well. I didn't need to change any settings and they are holding up just fine in an industrial environment. It's definitely worth getting to upgrade from a 100Mbps connection to Gigabit like I did.

Works as expected.

Product works as charm. i was able to put 30m fiber with no issue.Only two things.1. I tried other product they are well built then this one but i got gain of 1ms in ping that matters to me.2. my rj45 is 2.5G and expected to get 2.5G but got 1gbps.Overall i believe product deliver what it meant for - above two items is my observation still unit i choose to use for my final setup.

Package had everything we needed

Really appreciated the attention to detail and completeness of the package. Included all of the setup instructions and even contained a CAT5 jumper cable

Great little media converters with link fault passthrough

I plugged a pair of these converters into a 200ft multimode 50/125 patch cable with LC connectors and they work right out of the box. The power supply is not a space hogging wall wart. There is a short 110v pig tail for plugging into a power strip. A handwritten note offering tech support was included.
