Q: Can it hold a laptop?

No, it cannot hold a laptop. And it is a pretty junky safe made of very cheap materials. We just returned ours. Very disappointed.

Q: Apart from smashing open the safe with a hammer, if I lost the keys, is there any other way to open it? Perhaps getting replacement keys?

The keys to my safe were locked inside minutes after I received it. I contacted the manufacturer for replacement keys, and they won't send me just the keys. The manufacturer asked that I return it since it is still under warranty, and they will replace the whole safe. This works for people who don't have anything valuable in the safe (like me), but I don't know what they would do for someone who actually has something inside it. Also, it is going to cost about $40 for me to ship it from the west coast to Brooklyn NY. I am wondering if it is worth it.

Q: How is this fireproof? Won’t the plastic keypad melt in a fire and make it unable to open?

It's not fireproof. Nothing in this price or weight range is.
