Bandai Hobby HG IBO "Gundam IBO Side Story" Action Figure (1/144 Scale)

By far my favorite Gundam yet! I bought this one because it looked cool, is inexpensive and I wanted to practice some beginner customization. Pre-customization wise, I really enjoy the figure's build. The smaller upper body to bigger lower body with boosters and weapons has a very powerful anchoring effect, and the details of wings are easy to maneuver unlike some other Gundams. However, without treatment it does look half-finished and the red is cheap looking. This is where the real fun began! I lined the model, painted some details such as pipes and boosters Flat Aluminum, Gunmetal, and Copper. I threw out half of the stickers too because paint looked better on it. All of this was made better after I coated it with Matte spray. If you want to do minimum work and boost your Gunpla look by 50%, just spray it with a topcoat! It brings the plastic quality to a completely different level. In conclusion, this is a really cool, easy model and after a bit of customization looks awesome! Among my pictures I also included one that I found online which the builder completely decked out...now that's Gunpla at its finest!

Pros:A simple kit with minimal accessories but all can be mounted on the finished kit. Very good inner frame as expected from the IBO line, with some nice details. The energy connector on the forearm is a nice touch, allowing for a solid connection to it's hammer/sword. Overall, a quick but fun build, and my personal favorite of the three Astaroth kits.Cons:This kit has very minimal color separation with the two tone red effect becoming lost when looking at it from a distance. The kit is a little sticker heavy, (all the white accents and the gray on the wing binders and backpack) with the gray stickers used for color correction, but in a visually unpleasant way.

An excelent Gundam Model for those with some experience with any mecha kit, the rather universal Inner frame of the 1/144 IBO kits is especially nice making customizing and kitbashing within the line easy. Though the issue with this kit in particular is the reliance on color correcting stickers for the heels, the leg thrusters and the elbow armor you can use paint but only if you really want to put in the time and effort. Having already assembled the First Astaroth this one was a just as much of a joy to assemble, though do be careful as there are Small nubs on the kit that you can mistake for flashing easily. So double check your parts as noted in the instructions so you don't end up having to cannibalize another kit to fix it

If this is your first time building gunpla, then I would like to recommend this high grade Astaroth Origin kit.It’s easy to assemble and has a good starter variety of accessories/stickers to use.One downside of this kit was the ball joints connecting the arm to the torso were becoming loose but painting the ball joint made it snug.I had done some custom work by painting the inner frame of the kits with metallic silver, glossed sprayed the outer pieces, and panel lined some portions to give it more pop in the light.Defintiely a good kit to practice the more complex points of gunpla

Great kit for beginners, very simple construction and looks fine even without paint. Something someone new could make and be proud of. Only complaint is the stickers as they really don't look nice except the white ones on the legs. I ended up leaving all the stickers off except the green eyes and white leg arrows.
