Above Ground Pool Deluxe Wall Mount Automatic Skimmer

After a bit of fanagling in set up. It really works great. The top water of my pool is clean only have to skim once every other day.....well worth the price.

I live in the tropics, get gnat invasions frequently, and was fed up with scooping before swimming. After reading so many mixed reviews I figured why not just try it and so glad I did! I ordered the Pool Skimmer Socks too (you really NEED those to trap the small bugs). Within about 30 minutes or so the surface was cleaned to perfection! I have a 9' x 18' x 52" Intex Metal Frame and I could see it pull bugs from the other side of the pool (for better suction make sure you use the plug that comes with it - if you have dual intake lines). It mounted well on the frame, installation was super easy, and it shipped pretty fast. So far I'm absolutely thrilled with this skimmer, and very glad I didn't let those negative reviews sway my decision. I've already announced to friends that the 'Swim with the Gnats Program' has ended for the season!UPDATE: After using this for a few years it started flying out of the pool, and the pump would take in air. Have NO idea why it started doing this, but I finally got so fed up I removed it. It was great, while it lasted.Someone said to put a rock in the bottom to keep it from bobbing. NO. There needs to be air below the filter basket - bobbing is normal.Someone else said they were getting air in the 2nd intake valve because the plug they send with this skimmer has a small air hole in it. He put in his original plug with no hole. That's an affirmative NO too. I was concerned about the same thing and called Intex. A service rep. that obviously had this question before, and really seemed to know her stuff, said the pump is designed to pull from both valves. Closing off one completely will cause more damage to your pump than the small bit of air that's being sucked through.
