Star Right Education vs Carson Dellosa: A comparative review
You'll learn from the school of hard knocks that when it comes to sight words, there's no universal consensus to what qualifies as sight words. You might have a common denominator of words within a collective that many will agree on. But outside those few, its just a diverse collage of words that vary from one school to another. Thus you will see that sight words from one school to another will have some differences. And this applies same for those making/selling the flash cards.I recently purchased the Star Right Education (SRE) Flash cards for sight words to make up for the deficit I found in the Carson Dellosa equivalent. When I say deficit, I'm referencing the 44 sight words that form my child's Kindergarten curriculum for the year (see photos). Before I get to that, let me talk about SRE and what it brings to the table.FORM-FACTOR:Nicely made cards with very large, easily visible words.ACCESSORY: Comes with two metal rings that you can attach the cards toWORD COUNT: 169 Sight words. This is huge and in theory should cover what you are looking for at the 6+ year old level.DURABILITY: The paper cards feel well made and -- if handled properly should serve you well.PRICE: A bit up there, but @ $15.00. I guess that's what you get when you throw in the two holding Rings. How does it compare with the Carson Dellosa ?Well, for starters it has 67 more words than the Carson Dellosa which has 102 words. But the Carson Dellosa comes with a supplemental card that alphabetically lists out all 102 cards that come in the pack. SRE does not seem to have this. How does it compare with my child's curriculum?Well, it has most of the words except one. GOT is not there. So, I guess by inference SRE does not consider that a sight word (so you can see why I said sight words are a subjective notion). While the Carson Dellosa flash cards too did not have the GOT word, it was also missing the words HIS and HIM.How does the Carson Dellosa compare price wise?Well, it knocks it outta the park. Coming in at half the price of the SRE cards. But another issue I had with the SRE has to do with the rings. If you are using rings then, simply using cardboard paper will not suffice, since the perforated holes serve as weak links that can lead to tears. The Flash cards should've come laminated to guarantee durability. I wouldn't mind paying a buck more just to have them come laminated. This was the predominant reason why I'll return these.OVERALL IMPRESSION: I'll give this a 4 1/2 stars.Factoring in the much larger word count, yes, I would recommend these.Hope you found this review helpful.

Helped my 4 now 5 year old learn to read.
My daughter will be ready for kindergarten! She has mastered these words and is able to read her Dr. Seuss books and her other books! I’m teaching her sign language and how to read and this has helped for both a lot! Ive always wanted to learn asl because i work in healthcare and have a client that is non verbal so i figured I’d teach my younger kids as well and I’ve used these it teach both reading and sign. The cards are sturdy and you’re able to divide the shorter words and the bigger words to teach your child with one before the other. Every morning we do sight words and the words are printed big enough so that your child can easily see and break down (sound out) the words. I’m very satisfied with this buy.

Makes learning fun rather than a chore.
I love these! I am a 74yr old grandmother who takes care of a 7yr old grandson while his father works. I am doing the virtual schooling (1st grade). I understand how hard it is for him, sitting in front of a laptop, hours at a time, listening to and trying to comprehend what he is being asked to do. The different classes, with different workbooks, different sites on the computer, etc. The teachers are absolutely awesome with their patience and willingness to answer any and all questions from their 6 and 7 yrs old students. My 7yr old was having difficulty with his word comprehension. When I first showed him this box, he hid them. The first night we did a few and the next night he brought them to me for us to do. I recommend them, strongly, to anyone with a child having any type of difficulty with words. There are so many ways to make learning a fun time and my grandson has replaced his nightly bedtime story with making up his own stories using the words and letters from this product.

Highly recommend!!!
If I could give these flash cards 10 stars then I would! These are hands down the best. I love how sturdy the cards feel and there are so many that it never feels boring or repetitive. I feel like it's 2 stages in one set of cards... Stage 1 is to read the word on the front of the card correctly and stage 2 is to be able to read the entire sentence on the back that includes the word from the front. We sound out the word on the front (relatively easy) then read the sentence on the back (relatively difficult). This makes it super challenging, but not frustrating at all like it sometimes is when we sit and read a story (sentence after sentence, page after page).Previously, I would show him a word on flash cards I created and then make up a sentence off the top of my head so that he could understand the context. These flash cards are SO much easier! I'm obsessed with these. My son is 5.5yo and in Kindergarten and well on his way to reading thanks to these flash cards, the BOB books, checking out stage 1 reading books from the public library, and, of course, his amazing teachers at school.

Very good quality just didn’t have all the words I needed
Added photos of the words that come in the box since the description doesn’t specify what words are apart of the set. Unfortunately for us there are too many words we need that aren’t included in this set. Good quality and product, I love the added features of sentences using the words on the back of each card.

Wonderful sight-word flashcards for Aphasia patient
My husband, who is over 80 years old, had a major stroke which affected his speech and reading capabilities. The flashcards are perfect for him to identify commonly used words, so he can build up his reading skills. He says the words out loud, and reads the words on the back of the cards, in the context of a sentence. I then cover one word, and I have him substitute any word he can think of to complete the thought. We then move on to reading short paragraphs in a third grade comprehension workbook. He recognizes the sight words from the flashcards, and is able to more easily read actual informative sentences. It seems the little words like "the", "is", "here", "where" etc, are the hardest for him. I love the fact that these flash cards are on rings. They are so easy to store and use. We love to use them.
