Birds love it but wasn’t durable enough
I added this tray as a 3rd feeder. I add shell and unshelled peanuts hoping to keep the squirrels distracted from my other feeders. My likes are, today marks 11 days and I believe this feeder attracts more birds than the norm and they only move on to the others when the tray is empty. The wire hooks to the frame is also still intact. On the downside, today I noticed the screen pulled off the staple spilling half the nuts. I believe this is from the weight of the squirrels sitting in it. I found a solution which I think will work much better. Overall, the birds love the tray and it’s a lot cheaper than others. However, if you decide to purchase, before hanging I suggest you make some diy additional for long term durability. I just added some scrap wood I found around the house.

The Dimensions are Incorrect!
I bought this item to replace an existing platform feeder that I built years ago. My feeder is 17" x 17" with inside dimensions of 16" x 16". The advertised dimensions for this product are 13" x 13" (12.98"). The inside dimensions are only 11" x 11". It's made from a 1" x 2" spruce, which technically, is only 1 1/2" wide by 1/2" thick. The picture looks bigger and is deceiving. An 8 foot piece of 1"x 2" spruce costs $2.00 at my Home Depot. With a little skill, you can make this for under $10.00 and they're asking for $24! It's not worth it. I'll be returning mine.

Only for small birds
The pros:The tray itself it nice. It has a middle section that you can put fruit or corn on.The Cons. The cord is awful. It doesn’t hang properly and if anything other than a tiny bird stands on it, it little breaks. A squirrel went on it to see what was for supper and one of the cords broke right off. It had been up for an hour.Great idea but it doesn’t seem to work.

Perfect For Larger Birds
This tray feeder is better than expected. Holds 5 cups of seed. Blue Jays, Cardinals can land with ease and have no problem accessing the seed. The wire is plastic coated and plenty long enough to nicely hang on a branch. Once the wasps retreat, I'll be adding an apple via the included center screw. Happy with this purchase.

Blue Jays love it.
I put unshelled peanuts in it and hung it on a foot-long chain from a hanging geranium pot on my patio. The geranium pot baffles any squirrel that tries to get to the peanuts. I have 3 large bluejays that land on the platform bird feeder and snatch the peanut from it. They seen quite competitive and call out warn each other that they are coming. Very entertaining, and will help nourish the birds through the coming winter.
