Love Sit and Be Fit!
I absolutely love these videos. I am considerably younger than the target age, but still find them fun and a great way to have a gentle workout. I still feel as though my muscles get a workout and can already feel the difference in my postural muscles just after 1 week of using this. She incorporates weights and bands into several of the workouts, so if you need more challenge, you can just increase the weight or get the next level of exercise band. I like that she pays attention to relaxation, stretching, and to the small joints such as the hands and fingers as well. Mary Ann is upbeat, positive, and explains what to do in a friendly tone- she also goes slow enough so that the first time viewer is not completely lost. The music is from my grandparents generation- which I love because it is upbeat and not the same beats they typically use in more modern exercise videos. The best part of these videos is that they are truly for the beginner to exercise- no matter the age. So many exercise videos that are supposed to be for beginners start at a ridiculously high level of fitness- If one could do 30 min of aerobics, most likely they don't need the beginners DVD. Mary Ann really designed a program that is gentle enough for everyone. Love it!

Great, but no closed captioning included
The DVD arrived in good time. It has four helpful exercise sessions, with a variety of exercises included. I use closed captioning when I watch Sit and be Fit on television, and the DVD does not include those, so that was the only way in which it wasn't a perfect five stars for me.

Sit and Be Fit video
I like her PBS channel but sometimes I miss it and I can do these exercises when I am ready.

Good for seniors and those recuperating from injury.
I sprained my foot hiking and am temporarily having to wear a boot and use crutches. I'm very active (even for 65) and do yoga, zumba, jogging, and hiking, so I needed an exercise routine that could keep the rest of my body fit while my foot heals. I did all 4 routines and some of them were good, the instructor is ok. But I found sometimes she would forget (or not have time for?) to do the other side, or use terms the common layperson would not understand. While each routine offered other levels (very easy and more difficult), it seemed a little choppy. Also, I didn't realize that 4 different items were used other than the chair: towel, small weights, small ball, and a rubber band. I had to scramble and come up with them for those exercises.

Time for maintaininting flexiblity, balance and strength....without counterproductive pain.
Mary Ann is such a gentle, effective leader/tutor/coach as she goes through and explains the exercise workout. Exceedingly easy to follow along, and she explains -- and makes it interesting and fun -- to work along with her. She's a talented, knowledgable fitness coach and offers varieties of positions for exercises if somone is not able to do them standing, or needs extra support. The exercises work, at improving my balance, strength in my legs and overall flexibility. Well work the investment and i truly enjoy the CDs. Demographic may be for those recovering from injury, the disabled, the elderly, or the couch potato who wants to start moving. i've got spinal cord issues, osteoarthritis, have had multiple surgeries, and yet her guiding kind encouragement and matter-of-fact approach makes the viewer want to participate. i'm very glad i do.My knees, hop back are easier getting stronger to keep s[asms at bay, and my balance is improving.

Great exercise routine for older people
I've followed Mary Ann on my local PBS station for a number of years. My only complaint has been the 5:30 a.m. start time.So I'm delighted to have this DVD plus two others that I ordered at the same time. Mary Ann leads you through an exercise program that covers every part of your body in a gentle but effective way - tired muscles but no pain - and her manner is so positive that it's a pleasure to follow her.And I can now do it at a time of my choosing! The only other complaint comes from my cat Pip who always sat under my chair at 5:30 a.m. and now isn't quite sure what's up given mynewly- erratic exercise schedule.

Made for the very old!
I purchased this dvd because I was having foot surgery and would need to off my foot for at least a month. I’m in my sixties and could not handle this program at all. The music was military or Glenn Miller band. Most reps of anything is maybe two. If you are seriously old this is for you. If you are looking for a work out but can’t stand and born after 1940 this is not for you.
