The metal clip on the back goes onto your belt (I put it on the webbing of my waist pack) - it's very sturdy and won't slip off. The transmitter goes into the holster with the power button facing away from you; the antenna is rotated towards your midline and downward before snapping it in - this places the black and red "S" buttons where your right index and middle fingers should be if you have your palm facing your body. The "T" button is where your thumb would be in this position. I like the holster much more than the lanyard because it puts the transmitter at the right height and location to use and doesn't flop around.

Correct. The holster will not fit the Mini Educator. I suggest you go directly to the manufactuer of the Mini Educator & ask them if they have a smaller holster. The holsters are made by the Amish so you might have to research further than the company that makes the actual device.

Q: Do you have to use with a belt, or can it clip to the waistband or a pocket?

I wear mine on my waist band or pocket and my husband clips it to his belt
