Second purchase - updated review
First purchase: This body clocked in at 2.25 pounds before I started sanding it down. Very soft wood - so soft it is EASILY scratched with fingernails, edge of sandpaper, etc. Sanding was really quick but so many little "fixes" every time I bumped or touched it. Would I get another like it? Maybe, I like the weight of it. But a harder wood will be much more durable.Update: I bought another one. The first one was nice enough to lightly stain and it turned out pretty nice. This one has a couple of knots that completely mess up the looks - not sure how they even let this out the door. OK- it's from chine, so we know why. I planned to paint this one anyway so I can sand and fill but where I rated the first one a "4" this one is a "1". Barely. I won't try my luck again with this product.

Incredibly Light, Very Soft Wood!
This Strat style candlenut wood body weighs 1 lb, 15 ounces! The surface is pretty good considering how soft the wood is. Just a little minor tear-out and fuzz. But the neck pocket on mine is misshapen -lumpy at the end where it should be a shallow curve. My first step will be to saturate the surface with epoxy pore filler diluted with alcohol to harden it up, before any filling, sanding, etc. All screw holes will get a shot of thin super glue to harden them too. This should be a feather-light guitar! Hopefully I can make a neck light enough to result in a balanced instrument. Not a good value. GFS had Paulownia bodies with better machining for 10 bucks less.

Tone
The body is super light weight and easy to work with. Stronger than Sycamore as far as holes stripping out. It does have a few imperfections in the grain that don't take stain well but in one case the customer loved it's look.My issue is with tone. It's a scratchy sound for the lack of a better word. Even with Elixir coated strings that are not that scratchy there was a lot of string noise along with a very bright sound. Not a bad wood if your not worried about a perfect body and scratchy sound.

Don't buy this product
Came with a crack in the neck pocket. It was not from shipping. Very rough finish and a crack they had to see.

Well packaged in undamaged boxes, but still arived broken
It would have been nice, except for 2 major problems. First was the fact that it was well packed, being wrapped in foam, placed in a box, then placed in a second box. No packaging was damaged, yet the guitar body was badly broken. This can only happen if it was broken BEFORE packing.Secondly, the pocket for the neck was far too deep for any normal neck to fit properly. There was no safe way to install a neck without adding extra wood and creating a far weaker connection. It also had more holes drilled in it than neccesary. 4 for knobs, 1 for a switch, and 1 more for unknown reason.

Not to specs as advertised
This body is supposed to have a 5.5cm neck pocket. It is actually 5.7. Will not work. Bought and tried three necks before I realized it was the body that was messed up. My fault for not measuring it first.

Very light
Nice for the price. So light you’d think it was balsa wood. Took stain nicely.
