Scholastic Success with Reading Tests Grade 6 Workbook (Scholastic Success; Grade 6) Paperback – February 1, 2022

I bought this for my 6th grade grandson. He struggles a little bit with reading and comprehension. This has been a great supplement to his school studies and he enjoys it. I have him complete just one page each evening and that keeps it simple enough for him so he doesn't get frustrated and not want to do it. Each page has 2 separate very short articles and then about 3 multiple choice questions each for what they read. He reads the articles out loud and then reads out each question. The articles are maybe only a paragraph or two long but they are interesting topics and he's doing it willingly so that's a good sign. Every few pages there is a vocabulary page to check on their comprehension. The book is a great price, it's being used, and isn't too involved. Great!

I purchased both 5th and 6th grade reading for a 5th grader. There are 10 20 minute tests in the book. Overall satisfied with the purchase.

I loved the fact that the book included both synonyms and antonyms. The comprehension passages are not very challenging.

My son kept getting a few wrong and now only gets one or two wrong. Has improved his understanding of what is being told in a story. Great for 6th graders.

I do think the workbook could be more challenging as American students already fall behind China and Japan in many academic areas. However, this workbook help me identify areas in which my son needed improvement, which was more of the antonyms and synonyms. This past school year I thought my son needed help with reading, which I now know was not the problem.I will be buying a dictionary also. As parents, we have to be proactive in our children's education.

The book "Poems Short Stories and Things Remembered" is a book that I wrote and am proud of. My son, who is in jail asked me to send him a copy along with the other books listed on this email. He shares it with other inmates and he told me in a phone conversation that many of the inmates plan to ask their relatives to get them a copy of their own.
