5 stars for what it is - perfect for 6 year old beginner
I have a few piano students who have done very well with beginning piano books that immediately introduce the left hand. One student, a 6 year old, was struggling. After several weeks of lessons, we hadn't moved past the first few songs. I would point to a note on the staff and she would tell me the number, not the name of the note. Every note was numbered with the finger she was to use to play. I purchased this book and it has been a game changer. It is ONLY treble clef (see concern noted below.) The first 10 songs only include middle C - G. The notes have the letter of the note printed inside the note, but no finger numbers are included. The first song is "Mary Had a Little Lamb." My student picked right up on it and played it almost straight through - using the correct fingers without the numbers listed. She was able to point out quarter notes, half notes, and whole notes. CONCERN- Later lessons have students play notes in the treble clef with their left hand. Not sure how that will go - but we will see. My student is finding success and joy with this book and the songs included. It doesn't get better than that.

Easy to play.
I could play all songs. I liked it wasn't using numbers instead of the letters. The letters was inside the notes. How are you supposed to learn with numbers. The only thing I wish it was more 2 hands instead of just one.

Great for beginners
A great selection of material for beginners with a reasonable price tag. I bought it for my grandmother, so the larger print was especially handy, but it also makes it easier to keep up with the notes when you're not used to reading music.

Want to learn to play the piano? Start with this book!
After years of wishing to play the piano, someone gave me a 'discarded' piano. After a few months of looking at the piano, I decided to learn to play it. Then, I discovered Easy Piano Songs for Beginners. Angela Marshall’s collection of easy to learn songs is great. I am learning three of the first level songs. So far, when I practice, I can actually hear the tunes to “When the Saints Come Marching In” and “Mary Had a Little Lamb”. Playing the piano is no longer just a far-off dream. Ms. Marshall’s book makes it easy to follow and to play! I highly recommend it. I know I'll buy a next-level book soon.

Okay for first book
Many of the songs sound a little off but it's okay for the first piano book.

Mom Loved It
Purchased this for my mother in a nursing home who wanted to play piano again after many years. This was just the book to get her back into the swing of things. Widely recognized popular songs that are easy to follow. Recommended!
