I was looking for an affordable upgrade from my 1660 Super. As I mainly game at 1080p on PC I wasn't looking for a power house but wanted something that was a step or two up. Up step the RX6650XT. During the GPU shortage this launched at an inflated price and it didn't make a lot of sense. No prices have dropped and are continuing to drop, the RX6650XT is potential a bargain performance card.This is the Asus Dual variant and comes well packaged with some documentation. The card appears to well made for the price point. The shroud is plastic but it doesn't feel fragile. The card is double height and about medium length. So should fit fine in most ATX and mATX cases. The card requires a single 8 pin PCI-E power connector. Installation is easy and no support brackets should needed. The card has 3x DP 1.4a ports and a single HDMI 2.1 port so should connect to most monitors and TVs.My system is I5-10400F in Z490 mobo with 32gb of 3200 DDR4 and a gen 3 M.2 drive. I installed the driver only package to avoid additional bloatware. If you prefer you can install the Adrenalin suite. Testing CP2077 benchmark at high settings at 1080p with no resolution scaling enabled I got an 80+fps average with a low of 58fps. Far Cry 5 at Ultra setting at 1080p averages 118fps with a low of 85fps. Power consumptions peaks at around 150w, with GPU temps maxing at 58 and averaging 50s in game. Hot spot temps peak at around 80 but average 70. The only issue I've encountered is with ReBar enabled. I found it gave a few extra frame in CP2077 and few points in 3DMark, but some titles exhibited a micro stutter. This may be an issue with my system. The above results are all without ReBar enabled. Ray Tracing performance is mixed. In some titles it cripples the frame rate while others are surprisingly playable. Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition and Guardians of the Galaxy performed surprisingly well with RT enabled. Both maintaining very playable framerates.The Asus Dual RX6650XT represents a great value 1080p card right now. In terms of performance it is comparable to AMD latest 7600 while using less power. If you are looking to build an affordable gaming PC then the RX6650XT is worth considering.
