Great
Quality, sturdy item and certainly helps to keep the birdseed in place and away from gluttonous squirrels and marauding large birds, so lasts much longer. I like the bird perches in this feeder which assist the smaller birds to feed more than one at a time.

Very sturdy item
It is very sturdy and I am sure, once up, my birds will love it and it will deter the bigger birds.

Parrots
This feeder is well designed and very sturdy. Unfortunately it is not parrot proof; and green parrots are plentiful in London.

Not well made - beware!
Other reviewers have the same issues as me. This bidfeeder could have been designed so much better. The problems are numerous but to begin; at the top there is a lid and a collar, both are held by a bayonette system that is a simple "L" shape. Once you locate the lugs (of which there are x2 diametrically opposed) the rotation required to lock the joint is tiny. Now that doesn't matter with the lid because it's weight and gravity will keep it in place, but on the collar even a small amount of movement from the wind, from larger birds attempting to feed, from pesky squirrels, will easily dislodge the pin causing the whole thing to fall apart. The other pin mechanism issue is the "L" on the lid and "L" on the collar are contrary, i.e. not pointing in the same direction so if you try to turn and lift the lid, that degree of rotation unlocks the collar. That's OK if you happen to take the feeder down and put it on a surface to reload the food but if you tried to do that while it is hanging up there is a risk the whole thing will fall down - you spill the food, the squirels have a field day! Now I haven't even used this feeder. I spotted the weakness disassembling and reassembling the thing and I contemplated a simple fix. You could simply drill one or two pilot holes through the collar and fit self tapping screws. OK simple fix, but then you look a little more and see that the feeder tube sits on / is located on a dome and can pivot. It is secured at the top by the afore mentioned collar but it's a fiddely 2 handed job because unless the tube is perfectly aligned with the hole in the collar you can't easily locate the 2 parts. It did'nt need a dome, a cylinder plate would be more secure. Finally, last complaint - honest - the bird feeder outlets are poorly designed. The rear of the cup is higher than the bowl. Dry bird feed and gravity would keep the bowl topped, up but because the rear is high seed is always going to spill out, OK for the ground feeders I suppose. Now Gardman have put their name and therefore their reputation on this feeder and they have failed! They have failed to do proper product testing, failed to heed the reviews or they would have removed this feeder from sale pending redesign, they have failed me and you the consumer. Why on earth would you buy their products? I won't. I'm out £3.35 sending this thing back, save yourself at least this much.

Great design - and keeps starlings out!
The media could not be loaded. Only had it a few days but I’ve noticed:• Comes apart fully without much difficult 👍🏼• Hook is attached to feeder itself rather than the lid like the Peckish feeders, so no chance of the feeder falling off 👍🏼• 4 perches so feeds multiple birds simultaneously 👍🏼• Liked by all my usual wee birds - sparrows, blue tits, great tits, etc although goldfinches are a little more hesitant at first they still work away 👍🏼• Also liked by robins! I’m guessing due to the great branch-design of the perches 👍🏼• Keeps starlings out! Finally a feeder they can’t take over, starlings have now given up and stick to their designated separate feeding station 👍🏼• Looks nice - a grey tone of brown, not as ornate as the Peckish Secret Garden ones but still pretty 👍🏼• The top part was a little tricky to get back on during disassembly 👎🏼• The metal perches twist off the plastic tube, which is easy, but I can imagine this might wear away at the plastic over time - I can’t think of a better design myself so I hope it won’t be too difficult to purchase a replacement plastic tube when needed, rather than needing to dump and replace the whole feeder 👎🏼• There is no tray to collect dropped seeds so I’m gonna need to attach one myself 👎🏼All in all a great feeder and better than any other I’ve tried :)

Not squirrel proof - large bird proof
As other people have said, the key weakness is in the lid and overall locking mechanism, which are both flimsy and weak. It kept the squirrels out about a month before they realised a little agitation of the lid would make it twist and unlock, they could toss it aside and reach the contents. I then resorted to parcel taping the lid on, which kept them at bay for 2 months, but now have worked out to nibble the tape, then agitate the lid and undo it and reach the food. As you can imagine, the lid looks very scruffy from the tape, but there is little option. I have now gone to the Gorilla Tape, which for now is keeping the squirrels at bay. I am sure it wont be long before they manage to get through that. The core feeder is great, the little birds love it, we have robins, blue tits, great tits, sparrows, wrens, gold finches, green finches and more on here…plus the occasional field mouse… I bought 4 of these (2 seeds, one nuts and one fat-ball feeder), all are exactly the same. I sent two back initially as the locking mechanism was incorrectly cut and I could not even fit the lid or collar…I should have taken heed of this at the time. The squirrel wars continue…

Lovely product
Squirrels are not able to get into this bird feeder. Small birds now have a safe place to feed. It is a strong sturdy product and looks vert nice hanging from the bird stand.
