Takes some time to settle down and become quieter
Originally I had bought a more expensive small pump that was particularly quiet, but seeing as it only ran for just over a year and then died I was determined not to pay so much again and just go to Amazon. This pump is very neat for the money and seems to be reasonably easy to set up. Cleaning is easy and the bottom section slides down and off to access the filter material, I would say that this pump filter doesn't get quite as messy as previous small ones I have had which could be because of lower suction power, but does seem to keep the water nice and clean. The suction pads are like super glue so definitely not going to slip and slide out of position, and has quite a simple level line marked on the pump top to show where the water level should sit. You will know when you get any tank evaporation or the water level is too low as the pump will get noisy and you'll think there is a tap running somewhere in the house. The pump sounded like it was powered by a nuclear reactor during the first week it was so noisy, but gradually the electric 'hum' settled down to a dull roar which I now just except as part of the background noise of the house. For the money however this pump is very effective, I only hope it lasts longer than other makes I have bought!!

Great little filter
I am updating this review a couple of weeks in. The good news is that the pump has settled and is no longer noisy :) It isn't completely silent, but it certainly isn't an intrusive sound anymore, just a gentle hum which we can definitely live with! I am really pleased to be able to update this review, and would definitely recommend this now to anyone! Just expect it to be a bit noisy to be begin with (I assume while it settles?)I am also impressed at how clean the tank still is. With my old filter it wouldn't still be this clean!!!Old review: The reason I am giving this 2 stars is purely the noise. It's loud and intrusive in our living room. We had a nearly silent filter before buying this one (unfortunately I broke it being a little heavy handed whilst cleaning it), so I am really disappointed with this one. If you like a quiet filter, this is not the one for you!Good points - small, looks easy to change and clean. It was easy to install on first use.Bad points - Far too noisy for my liking! I hope the fish doesn't get a headach

If I can hear it, imagine how stressful it is for the fish
It has the best design that I’ve found in small internal filters (finally one that has ceramic media for better biological filtration!) and I love that you can pull it from the clip so you’re not fighting the suction cups every time (!!!!!!).However, it’s ridiculously noisy. I did what I could to drive the air out and submerged it like it recommended but I could still hear the impeller grinding away. I’m returning it and ordering another one in the hopes that this was just defective but I suspect it’s an engineering flaw.

Great quality and value
Much quieter than the one I had before. It isn't silent but it's not very loud it's quite soothing more like a low white noise. Cleans the tan quickly. I already notice a difference in the water quality. Personally I think its great for the price and excellent value.

Promising Start, but Quickly Becomes Unreliable and Erratic
I purchased the **Interpet Internal Aquarium Fish Tank Mini Power Filter** for my grandson's small fish tank, and initially, I was quite impressed with its performance. The filter worked efficiently, keeping the water crystal clear within the first couple of weeks, and I thought it was a great value for money. However, after about two weeks of use, the filter started to show issues. It became increasingly erratic, stopping and starting intermittently, which led to a noticeable decline in water quality. Despite my best efforts to maintain the filter regularly, including cleaning and checking for blockages, the problem persisted. The inconsistency in the filter’s performance has caused the tank to become murkier, which is disappointing as I was hoping for a long-lasting, reliable solution for my grandson's fish. While it started strong, I now find the filter unreliable, and it no longer performs as expected. I’m unsure if this is a manufacturing defect or a general issue with the product, but I would hesitate to recommend it based on my experience. It may work well initially, but long-term reliability seems questionable.
