Does the Job Well
As a committed DIYer I got fed up with lines of different chargers and cheap kit that failed just when I needed it so years back decide to standardise on one make of battery kit wherever possible. That happened to be Dewalt and so far I have not been let down. This purchase of a portable vacuum is no exception. One point to note is the Amazon page quotes 54 volt. It actually runs on 18 volt but could also use the new 54/18 volt batteries, I guess in 18 volt mode. With a lot of ongoing jobs including plaster repairs and paint and varnish stripping there has been a lot of dust and muck to clear. Collection has been through my big Bosch Professional shop vacuum or, more often because the Bosch takes too much space, borrowing my wife's hand vacuum. Unfortunately the latter was not made for the job and eventually dry wall dust killed it. That led to the Dewalt purchase. So far it has shown itself as a good in between the big mains unit and little handheld suckers. There is no problem with the filter clogging with dust and a quick run under the tap and its clean again and drys quickly. The capacity is huge compared with a handheld and the battery life with a 4 amp battery is much longer than I expected so have never tried mains use or considered a higher capacity. It has enough suction to do everything I want including pulling soggy, sticky solvent soaked varnish out of the stair carpet as effectively as the big Bosch Final plus is the on board tool storage. The hose is quite short but as it is mainly used with unit in one hand and wand in the other that is not really an issue. Unlike my big Bosch vac this one goes with you so there is no need for a long hose.If there is a fault it is the design of the waste container. This is blow moulded and has a large internal ridge all the way round which makes it a sod to empty without making a mess. Quite quick and easy to wash out though so not a deal breaker. For any pro or DIYer with access to Dewalt 18 or 54 volt batteries and charger this is a great buy (especially as my Bosch cost over £400)I find reviews help my purchase decisions so if this helps yours please click the like so I know I am not wasting my time. Thanks.

Great dust extractor
Clips in great with other Dewalt tools, the attachment at the end of the hose locks into place with bearings rather just pushed on, this means it doesn't fall off, great to have battery power, robust bit of kit

Sweet addition to the dewalt family
It used the same batteries as my tools, mains too. Sucks and blows so it's a usefull tool either way you want to clean up.

It’s decent enough for dust extracting or for light clean ups. Bit pricey for what it is.
It’s perfectly fine for the average workshop vacuum or as attaching as a dust extractor to your dewalt tools but you wouldn’t want to use this for a full clean up at a customers house. Basically don’t expect too much from a little vacuum and you won’t be disappointed like a few people here are.I’ve used it on my orbital sander and it was honestly worth it just for that, incredible difference. I’ll be using it for my workshop too just after sweeping to get the rest of the dust kind of thing and on the mitre saw. It’s handy that it’s powered by battery and corded, particularly with the sander for mobility, I was carrying it around with me whilst going. Light weight very sturdy feeling. It’s very easy to clean as well, slightly longer tube would be good but it’s designed for compactness.Bit pricey in my opinion, probably better options out there not made by dewalt.

Great kit
Works great as an extractor with the hoseloc. Good site cleaner at the end of the day. Works better on 54v battery than when connected to mains!! Good capacite tank. Needs a longer hose to be ideal as extractor

Doesn't connect to DeWalt Power tools !!
I bought this Dewalt vacuum cleaner to act as a dust extractor with my range of Dewalt power tools.I assumed that being a Dewalt product, it would connect with these tools straight out of the box. However, it doesn't connect with any of them, and I would need to purchase a range of additional adaptors for £30 to £70 to make it do this.I am so disappointed, as I felt this was an expensive vacuum cleaner in the first place (£156), so spending a load more extra money for some cheap trashy plastic adaptors is a step too far !!I am returning the item, and will get a really cheap Vacuum cleaner for £40 and get some universal adaptors so I can use with the power tools. What a missed opportunity by Dewalt !!

Wicked hoover
Really good quality, and a very good hoover. Use this every day, good to have battery and mains . The wet hoover also works well on it . Highly recommend
