Q: Can i still mount the bluerock model 12z1 t/s to the concrete without the vacuum base? or is it anchored by vacuum only.

This drill has two mounting options included, you can use the center vacuum plug and vacuum pump to secure your base with suction. Or remove the center vacuum plug and use a traditional wedge anchor to secure your base.

Q: What is the vacuum pump for

This drill is vacuum compatible base. Some applications, the vacuum pump can be used instead of a center anchoring bolt to create suction and secure the stand to the concrete surface.

Update:The company reached out and after a great discussion and listening to my experience with the drill they agreed to refund on this purchase. Changing my review simply because they handled this well!Bought this drill with a 12 inch bit had good reviews.I think this would be a great drill for anything under 8 inches or in softer concrete
