These are nice little set of brackets I would not use them for heavy structural applications. For a mailbox, or something lighter like a stair rail these are perfect though. I do think if you used 4 per post they would be fine for a pergola, but I did not try using them in that case.materials wise they are thick enough as steel to be strong, 1/10th of an inch or 2.8 mm. The powder coating is thick and uniform. I have no doubt these will last years supporting my mailbox and making replacement if ever needed as easy as pulling out 6 screws from the 4x4.

They can be used on different size lumber which is excellent. Because you never know what you will need to be fixing or replacing. Well made, strong and sturdy and best part is they are so easy to use.
