LG SP7R 7.1 Channel High Res Audio Sound Bar with Rear Speaker Kit (Renewed)

Alright, I am not an electrician, but I do have years of experience as an amateur sound technician, with a limited budget. I don’t write a lot of reviews, but felt driven for this one.I bought this as a refurbished model to get a 7.1 Surround Sound System instead of a 5.1 for the money. To be honest, I would give this 4 1/2 stars instead of 5, but they won’t let me, so I’ll kick it up to 5 to be generous.Given that intro:I’m using this with a 50” Lg 50QNED80TUC TV. So, That’s a Midrange LG TV that was higher rated for its Picture than Sound. I stuck with the LG Name brand figuring it might be wise to be consistent. I don’t care about Video Games. I’m more of a News and Information + Movies Fan.I think this is Fine for a Midrange Sound Bar/Surround Sound System! If you have more money you want to spend, more expensive systems will probably sound better…Throw more money at it and I’m sure this isn’t the ultimate!I think the Sound Quality is Good! Although, My two biggest criticisms are you need to be moderately tech savy, since it came with no instructions + I bought better Speaker Wires, because the Back Speakers came with pathetically slim wires. Honestly, I haven’t hooked those up yet. I’ll update this if that change impresses me enough?[Update: I switched out the included cables for 12 Guage Copper Cables. The sound is noticeably improved, but the new ones were a bit too thick…a bit challenging to hook up. Having worked at Best But, I expect they keep prices competitive by including cheap Cables, then mark up the Recommended Accessories. For better or worse, That’s Marketing for you.]In short, I’m glad to buy refurbished equipment if it helps me afford what I want, as long as it comes with the same warranty. I would buy this again. Especially, as a Refurbished Unit, it’s probably the most reasonably affordable 7:1 Surround Sound System you could find.

I purchased this system as a refurbished item. Upon arrival there was some minor signs of use but nothing major. The system easily connected to my tv using an HDMIArc cable. Connecting the sub and satellite speakers via bluetooth was immediate upon powering everything up as directed. This system is being used with a 65 inchTV in our living room. So far, Im very pleased with the sound quality of the soundbar and satellite speakers. We live in a condo and this system is exactly what we needed to enhance our TV experience

I would strongly recommend going with a different brand, if at all possible. This is my second LG sound bar. With the first, the subwoofer died within days. The sound bar itself was still decent and provided better sound than the tv internal speakers, so I decided to keep it rather than hassle with a return. This current sound bar has better audio than the last (more channels) and so far the subwoofer seems to be working fine. However, I wanted this model for the rear speakers, and they do not work at all. Wireless receiver shows a connection, but after checking and rechecking the speaker wire connections, there is still zero audio coming from rear speakers.Buyer beware!

I snagged this set for my new LG 75QNED80 panel.I am docking a star for 4 reasons.1.) The original LG label has been peeled off and replaced with another label from either the seller or whom refurbished the product.2.) Has previous owners pet hair on it. Nothing I can't clean but if you're gonna label it as Excellent, clean the dang thing I shouldn't have someone's crap on it. Thankfully a Clorox wipe and a rag took care of it all.3.) The warranty option i paid an extra 20 dollars for. Covers absolutely NOTHING except the chance of a short. Drops, spills ect are not covered and I get some of them, but this has a rear set of speakers. Speakers you're going to want to use stands for or place strategically and absolutely could manage to fall and be damaged somehow. The terms vs the advertisement do not match at all. So won't matter what happens, I'mma push for a short for any issue I encounter.4.) Do yourself justice and get some quality copper speaker wire. I have had a roll sitting for a long time and the wire that came with these, I laughed at the poor thickness and how thin they were.Enough of the cons. To those who are claiming a lack of bass and all, if you read instructions it states to get the LG Soundbar app. Be sure to do so. It runs needed updates, has equalizer settings, ect. For my panel and I imagine others, for each input you'll need to use the app to set your sound to how you want it. The app made it ridiculously friendly and enabled the full set of speakers as from the get go, Standard does not expand the sound for the full array and even at low sound levels, these are great. I am using the AI option across 3 inputs and the difference is crystal clear voices, great bass, great highs. My rear set is forward facing for now because of cats and limited space but dang. What an upgrade from my 360 watt LG 2.1 bar that is now for my PC, and I had no issue with it I snagged these because they retail for a lot more, and under 200 I had to risk it because the excitement of my new TV. This is a fantastic audio product and it's worth the risk and the set-up time (took me a but because i read the manual, explored the app, had to strip and cut my own wires). The rear pair connected to the system with out much involvement from me. My go to test for feeling out the dynamics of the audio and settling for the AI mode was the TRON Legacy OST, a few metal and rock bands, some pop and rap too. Just all sorts of things. I did very minor tweaks and as a whole experience bravo.Spanning a few different audio options I want to say, this really brings out production a lot so if the source is poor, production poor or the source this will highlight it, while trying to do it's best to give you a good experience.This may not be the perfect system for some. If you want a bigger, more full experience full of thunder bass and all, vs a wholesome clear cut experience may want to consider spending that top dollar on something with over all more wattage/delivery but this is a huge step up from a 2.1 or 3.1 experience.

Refurbished came looking used. The front of the sound bar was dusty. It was easy to set up but not totally wireless . The smaller speakers required wiring to work. Only the subwoofer was wireless. Sound quality is great. Was a gift so disappointed because of being dusty.
