Visually striking book, but fingerprints may stick on cover
The silver cover, with a soft pillowy texture, looks impressive and is visually striking. The pictures in the book are impressive and make you want to make a drink immediately. Each recipe has a fun back story or cute quip that makes each page entertaining. There is an appendix with many syrups and other concoctions that you need on hand for certain recipes. Unfortunately, there are quite a few recipes that require the use of brand-name ingredients, like specialty bitters, that seem risky to buy for few uses. The recreation of classic cocktails to innovative new creations are exciting. The only other downsides are that the silver couple attracts finger prints and the binding is tight so you need to take a picture or have a weight that can hold the pages down. The index of ingredients helps you know how many cocktails use a particular ingredient, which helps in determining which are worth making or buying.

The Drinks Sound Delicious . . .
. . . but you'd best be a big fan of sugar because the sheer amounts of sugar in the, well, sugar as well as the juices and syrups is enough to rot your teeth just by reading the recipes. Here's one of the recipes and its syrup. I picked this because when I first opened the book it went to this syrup page--and I was immediately intrigued. Jalapeno peppers AND vanilla beans? What a great idea!Love & Light1. 1/2 oz. black cherry juice1 1/2 oz. chai concentrate1 oz. Vanilla & Chile Syrup *2 dashes of El Guapo Love Potion bitters1/2 oz. fresh lime juice2 oz. cranberry lime seltzerVanilla & Chile Syrup1 cup water2 cups demerara sugar2 jalapeno peppers2 vanilla beansBut as I read it over and then went to a drink recipe that used it I realized that amount of sugar in anything let alone one drink would be almost guaranteed to make me very sick. Most people are accustomed to much sweeter drinks that I am, including soft drinks, so I think for many who are looking for sweet mocktails it would likely not be too much. Many of the other recipes in this book also sound and look fantastic. You won't find a virgin margarita in here but you will find things like a Fuzzy Navel with peach nectar and orange juice, a Moscow Mule, a Milk Beach with coconut, lemon juice, lavender syrup and El Guapo Polynesian Kiss bitters (the latter carried by Amazon), the Violet Hour and many more. Even if you rarely or even never make them, this gorgeous book--beautifully designed, photographed and written by a professional publisher--would be a wonderful addition to a food-and-drinks books collection. Those who keep a bar cart at the ready would probably love it too. Just know that you may find yourself needing to stock up on the more exotic ingredients.Highly recommended though none of the recipes were tried by me.

Too much work
There are very few straight forward recipes. You have to plan to make these drinks. One recipe called for 10% saline solution (what????). It provides the "recipe" on a different page. Most of the mocktail recipes require making a syrup first; only to use a dash of it in the recipe. Again, you have to plan everything out.

Nice collection of alcohol free or low alcohol drinks
This book has a very nice presentation to it and it is nicely laid out in the order of drinks. Lovely soft cover and almost every drink has its own photograph to go with the recipe. The recipes are written utilizing ounces for the liquids and there is a conversion table in the back of the book. There is a huge variety of recipes which should cover most flavors you can imagine! For certain ingredients there are additional recipes at the end (for the special syrups you the drink may require). Fun to have on hand for parties where there may kids or just those looking for something different. Fun to have around just to try something new! All directions are in the recipes including the recommended glassware. It is a great addition for the bartender or dink aficionado to have on hand.

Really useful and beautifully illustrated book
This is a really gorgeous book full of amazing ALCOHOL FREE(!) drink recipes! Yes, you could always add in alcohol, but if you can't have it or don't want to, you have much better options than plain old coffee or soda. It's a compact size, so it will fit comfortably on a bar cart or table, and it is jam-packed with tons of recipes with beautiful photographs for each drink, some even two page spreads. The back of the book even includes recipes for special syrups and ingredients used in many of the drinks earlier on, so you really do have everything you need to create some really unique and appetizing mocktails. My wife saw the book and thought it was simply amazing. At $23.99 USD, it really is a bargain for everything that's crammed in there in such an attractive and elegant fashion.
