Hugely frustrating
In many ways this thermostat is a solution looking for a problem. Lots of very clever possibilities most of which I didn't want or need. The problem is that I am now on my third thermostat as they tend to fail after about a year. In my case it is the WiFi failing to reconnect after dropping out for some reason. Apparently this is a common problem with the series 3 and the only solution other than wasting time trying endless and useless help procedures is for Google to replace the thermostat.This is the last chance saloon for the Nest 3 and if and when this thermostat fails I will replace with a Hive or some other alternative.

4th replacement in about 18 months
We’re awaiting our 4th replacement Nest in 18 months as 3rd replacement was not working straight from the box. Every time it’s the same fault , it fails to connect to the Heat Link. Every time It fails we have to pay Google for a replacement even though it’s broken within the warranty period. Then when they receive the old unit they will possibly refund if it’s broken. I have wasted many hours with their telephone support team running through the self same installation over and over again as they try to solve the self same faults. This time they have received our old unit and didn’t refund or send a hopefully working unit to us as agreed on the telephone with the google best help team. Now despite not receiving a refund we have received another invoice to pay for another replacement despite not having received a working replacement three weeks ago. If we had been advised by our installer of our boiler how unreliable these thing are we would have bought a Hive system. Appalling to expect customers to pay for a replacement within warranty, I’m unsure if this is lawful here in the UK.
