Like it so far but read on.
Like it so far but read on. Over the past 10 years I have used many hose end timers. All but one have failed within three years if less. Often much less. The DIG 7001 lasted 10 years but it's newest model is now over $100. I have never tried a Gilmour so here goes. I will report back if or when it fails to let you know how it lasts. It works well.PLUS:Replaces 2 regular timersNot hard to set upTakes AA Batteries and I use rechargeables.Reasonably easy to read display.Timers work independently.Says that it has a memory so that reprogramming is not needed when batteries are changed.I will report back.Has a manual setting where each side can be bade to water for a set time manually. Not both at once. Defaults to 30 min which I like.Good priceMINUSES:If it dies while I am away it will destroy both sections of my jungle garden rather than one.Like nearly all of these timers it shuts the water off very suddenly which can cause a "water hammer" effect in the pipes. While this is usually harmless it is often audible. I install a section of hose before the timer to soak up some of the shock. I just make a several feet of hose and then fasten the timer at eye level above the spigot. Makes it easier to read too.

Lawn care game changer
I wish I would have purchased this product years ago! Our family doesn't spend a lot of money on "extras", and I debated over making this purchase. I was exhusted with dragging hoses, setting phone timers to move the hoses, and planning my mornings / evenings around watering schedules. Thanks to this product, we were able to go on summer vacation during a record Texas drought and still come back to a surviving lawn. Our water bill was lower than the neighbors with sprinklers and our grass looked greener! The price on this product was also well worth the time I gained back in my life.

Totally unreliable
I bought 2 timers a year ago in the spring and they worked fine all summer. I brought them inside for the cold months here in Washington state and setting them up a couple of weeks ago, I installed new batteries. I’m leaving the state in a couple of days for the month of May and maybe part of June so I’ve set them to go on every 7 days. My neighbor will turn on the water when the drier weather comes in May. I’ve been checking them daily since I set them up a week ago, and one timer continues to go on daily no matter what I do or who sets them. One outlet of the other timer came on after 6 days while its partner outlet seems to be ok. I’ve had others set them including the master gardener who recommended them to me. We press the reset button. Same results. I bought another 2 of these timers for the previous summer. They worked fine then but then I had the same trouble with them for the second summer. But I had left them outside during the winter months and thought that was why they weren’t working properly. I tried reaching customer service and got no response. These timers work for only one summer it seems and then need to be replaced each year.

So far so good....I like them
I bought 3 of these and have them set up on my sand point well for yard and garden watering while on vacation. My thoughts, so far:1. Water flow seems to be fine. It appears that Gilmour has removed the restrictor that is shown in another review. The hole is now about the size of my little finger. Not gigantic but it runs all my sprinklers just fine. The way I use them is one side at a time so not sure how the flow would be if you were using both sides at once, but it appears it'd be fine.2. The unit "feels" well made. We'll see as time progresses. I have them attached using those short 6 inch kink restrictor hoses. My thinking was that this would help relieve any stress at the point it connects to faucet.3. Unit was very easy and quick to program. Just follow the directions. Took me longer to synch the time on all three than it did to actually program them.4. Instructions say not for use with Y connectors. However, I have all of mine on large Y connectors and they seem to work just fine.5. So far, no leaking.I don't think these are as bad as some people say they are, my opinion only. However, I have only had them a couple of days, but, so far, they do exactly what I wanted them to do. I gave them a 4-rating ONLY because I haven't had them long enough to be totally sold on them. Again, we'll see how they perform over time. So far so good though.

Better Than I Had Expected It Would Be
We were needing to be gone for over a week and were concerned that our garden would dry up and die in the hot dry heat since we didn't have anyone reliable to care for it while we were gone. I looked on Amazon and found this unit and in reading about it thought it would work for us, got it and it does. I looked at the 3 valve models but it appeared that that 3rd valve was just a bypass valve and not a regulated connection so I picked this 2 valve model, less expensive too. When it came it turned out to be extremely easy to program and use. It runs on 2 AA batteries that are kept in a tray in the back and well protected from any rain or splashes. The batteries have so far lasted over a month and are still going. Ours is set to water every 12 hours, the right nozzle and left nozzles only 3 minutes at a time and 10 minutes apart. It can be programmed for 1 minute to hours long on each nozzle and the right nozzle is a bypass that will work with the push of a button if needed to water or use the hose.Easy to use, not too expensive, and works great. We're still using ours to keep everything watered and not having to manually water our veggies at all. Yes, it is a keeper!

Works great
Easy setup, easy programming. I am running one line down the right side of deck where plants are as well as one line down the left side of deck. This unit is replacing the same unit that was purchased a few years ago. Not sure why it only lasted a few years but it may be due to water from hose or rain affecting the controls.
