Japan Stamp & Souvenir Book | 120 pages | Sakura Edition

I weas searching Amazon for a Japan phrase book before starting a lengthy tour of the country and this Souvenir Book came up as well. I thought I should give it a try.Firstly, it became an excellent journal for me as travelled through. At the end of each I could brain dump what had happened while it was fresh.Secondly, our tour guide suggested that I use it to collect "Goshuin" stamps that are available at all the shrines for between £1.50 and £2.50. We visited 10 shrines and the reaction was mixed. 3 of them looked dismissively at the book and would only let me have a pre-printed stamp that I could then glue in when I got home. The Japanese have special Goshuin books that the shrines are happy to sell to you... 5 of them happily took the book and less than 5 minutes later I was able to collect it with the stamp completed. Two of them actually produced the stamp in front of me using a collection of pens and stamps. I have attached the Mount Fuji stamp so you can see an example. In a few cases the ink did leak through to the next page, but I think that's reasonable. The ink can be thick.I also collected some more standard stamps from other tourist attractions.
