Q: How wide is it handle to handle? Could you partially colaspe it to get through a narrow area, or would that be dangerous ?

Hi, In answer to your question about the handle to handle size - when fully open it is 18-3/4 inches wide. Yes, I do collapse it partially to get through small areas (like around in the bathroom), and it poses no danger to me. I have found this light weight walker VERY handy, able to get it out of my car without help and study enough to get me to a grocery or store cart.

Sorry to report that will not work. When I bought mine I was really annoyed that the front wheels are fixed and did not swivel - as was implied in the video and failed to make clear in the description of the item. It was such a major annoyance to me that I purchased - at significant additional expense - wheels that do swivel. Since I now had the original fixed front wheels I thought to take off the slides and install the wheels. 2 problems with that: 1) The front metal rods are shorter in length than the back to accommodate the height of the wheels. 2) the front rods are tubular (round) and the rear rods are not. Blow up the photo to note the difference in the configuration of the front vs back rods...wheels cannot be installed on the rear.

Q: What is the outside width of the base legs? I need a walker for a 20-inch door.

This has prooved to be a very good walker. I measued mine at just under19.5 inches wide when fully extended. 4 inches wide when closed. Its a close fit.
