These soot cleaning logs are easy to light thanks to the fire starter in its core. I have used one of the logs after using my fireplace for the winter.It burns hot and with a lot of smoke. Even though it seems like it would work I don't really have a way to know how well.The price is right for 6 logs

It didn’t burn all the way like it was supposed to. Maybe only 1/2 of it.

I wanted to give 5 stars but admit, I did not use them. These became available after the weather was too warm for me to use. So, I gave one of the logs to my son to use in his chimney as he was planning to hire a person to clean the chimney before winter and after spring so I asked how it did. He reports that as far as he could tell, the chimney in his recently purchased house was not cleaned by the previous owners and that this creosote cleaner did a good job. He will use another before winter as well. He was able to close off the room where his fire place is so as not to heat up the house, and there wasn't a lot of smoke produced, and the flu seemed to look better. He was impressed and asked to order more should they become available before winter this year.

We have a 1960’s era fireplace insert that doesn’t lend itself to modern chimney cleaning, so looking for something to help with creosote buildup. The good: you get 6 logs, log ignites easily and burns completely. Given the nature of our insert, cannot check how well it does at keeping down creosote. However it seems like a good preventative measure and am happy to have them.

Stay Away!!!! I ordered and received on Feb 25, placed it on my pantry floor (still in original packaging/box) waiting for a cold day to use and on March 5 (8 days later), the logs exploded, making a mess and leaving a weird smell in my home. Luckily nobody got hurt or damage caused to my home. Amazon is refunding me my money

I used a couple of these logs this season. They light easily and burn like regular logs. Good to keep creosote and buildup to a minimum and prevent dangerous flue fires.
