Great for a beginner
For the money this particular brand is worth it. Ordered two others that were sent back. They had dead sound. On a scale of one to 10 this is probably a seven or eight as I said as a beginner. This isn’t bad once you get the hang.

10 tone vs 12 tone
Like the drum alot. Only one issue. The two highest notes are kind of useless. Well, not useless, but are very hard to get a good tone from. I tend to not even use those notes. So, if I would ever buy another one, I would get a 10 tone one. I thought the extra notes would be cool. Eh... not so much.

Flat notes and harmonics.
Package arrived slightly damaged but the contents were unharmed. Nice looking instrument. Came with a fine coating of oil to help protect the metal during shipping. One minor scratch. Pretty color (purple) and the contents were all with it and it was well packed. However....Sound quality:The tuning on several of the notes is flat. The harmonics are also off in places as well which may be the main reason for the off tuning. None of them are so bad as to make this completely unplayable, if you only play it alone. If you want to play along with another instrument that in tune, you will not be happy. You will not be in tune with it. This means you can't play along with friends or tutorial videos without being out of tune. Best use for this would be a very cheap, beginner instrument to potentially learn on before committing to a 2k instrument and ONLY if you are not sensitive to pitch being off a little. If you have perfect pitch or perfect relative pitch, this instrument could be like fingernails on a chalkboard.I have contacted the seller with my concerns and await their response. At this time, I do not recommend this instrument at this time.Update: 4 days later and no response from the vendor. Item returned.

Good till' day 2.. then sadly, had to return it 😞
This item is wonderful but it's flawed in a way it could be prevented.. when I got it I.. it was pristine with sheen from the oil that it was rubbed with (prevent rusting or putting) and in great shape, also tuning! The little stand and knick-knacks were pretty cool too. Didn't use the mallets, read through the manual and really likes the little hand woven or crochet rim guard for the edges of the drum, a rather tasteful touch in my opinion. Here's the thing though ..after 2 days of playing lightly, 2 notes drifted out of tune rather far from where they were meant to be. It seemed like the notes were pressed on (typical construction method outside of had shaping with hammers) stabilized and shipped out.. from what I can tell, it seemed the shell wasn't heat treated or heat treated enough times to stabilize the notes (about 3-5 times and retuned after each cycle).. it was great presentation but it didn't keep for too long and that's all that made it kinda sad for me.. I hated having to hand it over to our UPS guy to return it because of how nice and clean it sounded on day1 but... Oh well.. overall pretty good stuff, just gotta learn from someone how to tune em' if you wanna keep em'.. one more thing.. I asked the Amazon customer service for a way to get a hold of the maker or manufacturer and there was no way to do that so it made troubleshooting the issue challenging.. I was going to ask a few questions to the creator/manufacturer to see if it was something I could have fixed at home to prevent the shipping cost for the seller out of respect and gratitude for this beautiful instrument but like I mentioned earlier, talking to someone outside of customer support simply wasn't going to happen despite my multiple attempts.. for the seller if you read this, I would recommend adding an email for customers to contact or reach out to maker because this instrument is nice but I'm sure your shipping costs aren't fun to deal with return-wise.. this instrument being so young in its existence must stay alive and in circulation but if it becomes a thing where someone buys it and can't play it again in a few months or weeks.. then as a consumer, we're just buying an expensive disposable coal grill cover with dimples that used to make mystical sounds and now just lives in the garage on a distant shelf, buried deep in the abyss in the "someday I'll mess with it-ness" section..
