Classic Design with a surprising IMPROVEMENT
I bought the original design of this tool decades ago when it first came out. Great tool, with one flaw back then. It did not hold up well cutting steel wire. Well that was 30+ years ago. I bought a new one, and was just suprised and delighted to see Gerber made a great classic BETTER. Carbide cutting inserts, for cutting steel wire ! ( like fencing wire, coat hangars etc ) On top of that, the carbide inserts are 3 sided, so if worn, just loosed with included tool, and rotate the insert to a fresh blade.I am a retired Master Mechanic, now in Landscaping. I have wanted another blunt pliar Gerber for 20-something years, and voila ! Gerber EXCEEDED expectations !I seldom rave in Reviews unless excellence is found. Here you go !If you need a handy belt multi tool, buy the BEST, get a Gerber !Buy This Tool ! Great tool, built to give service for a lifetime. ( Ladies: buy your man this ! )

This is my geeky engineer prepper pick for an EDC multi-tool
This has been my EDC multi-tool for almost a year, and it's still like new. I haven't been gentle and it's held up well. I used the needle nose pliers last night to pry open the sliding glass window in the back window of my old pickup truck. Given the direction and magnitude of the torque applied to the plier hinge, this was really abuse rather than use, but good tools like this are overbuilt and use quality materials and heat treating, so they can take some occasional abuse.I love the assortment of tools on board. Gerber seemed to know how I'd use this multi-tool. I carry a full sized knife that's easier to access, so I almost never use the knife on the Gerber Multi-Plier, but a multi-tool needs a knife and this is a good blade that's well designed. It's small enough to be discrete, large enough to be genuinely useful, and the smooth and serrated areas seem ideal for a multitude of different uses. The replaceable jig saw blade is genius! I love that I can carry lightweight, inexpensive, and readily available blades optimized for cutting wood, soft metals and harder metals. The abrasive grit blade that is supplied is the best of all worlds. It may not be optimal for the materials I just mentioned, but it will cut almost ANYTHING, including glass or ceramic tile.I also love the way the Phillips screwdriver bit accepts the included adapter that can use any 1/4" hex drive bit. That opens this tool up to using all sorts of tool bits. You can carry an assortment of security bits and McGyver your way into all sorts of tamper proof electronics. Or you can get a 1/4" square drive adapter and carry a selection of small sockets. The small set of bits that ships with the Pro Scout is a good selection for everyday needs and tucks next to the multi-tool in my tactical pants' small cell phone pocket that wasn't used since I switched to a ginormous tablet phone.I'm usually a SOG guy, but Gerber nailed this one.

GREAT MUILTI TOOL!
i find the MP600 very functional. i can see many uses in my life for this. i esp love the price, i got it for $40! nothing else on the market can beat that price. looking at the MP600 i now understand why this is used by the military. it's cheap, will get the job done, and it wont bankrupt the military. another reason why i like this price is b/c i can easily replace it if i break it or lose it. i have another multi tool that i bought around $100, and i am reluctant to use it b/c i don't want to risk losing it or damaging it b/c it's so expensive. it's like driving your Corvette on the mud, why would anyone do that?! but with the MP600, i am more comfortable to use it b/c it's only $40 and if anything happens to it i can always buy another one which i can do b/c it's affordable.the MP600 looks like a multi tool that people in the police or the military would use. other multi tools doesn't have that "military look" to them like the MP600 does. this is also a blade less multi tool which i was looking for. i have never been a fan of knives in multi tools b/c they aren't as good as my pocket knife. i always carry a good quality pocket knife w/me anyways so i don't need or even want to have knives in my multi tools.some people complain about the wire cutters, but i don't understand why. the wire cutters on the MP600 is removable, so if you don't like it you can buy a better wire cutter from Gerber. i know they have steel wire cutters that you can buy which is much better than the ones that comes standard on the MP600. i don't use the wire cutters that much anyways so this doesn't bother me.another complaint that people have about the MP600 is the lubrication. the MP600 comes heavily lubricated and i don't know why this is a surprise to most people. if you are an experienced gun owner, or even a knife owner, you will know that they come heavily lubricated. this is to protect the guns and knives from dirt and long term storage. when i bought my shotgun, it was covered in lubrication. i have to clean it and i even had to remove the trigger assembly and clean the lubrication off of that as well. some thing w/some of my knives it comes lubricated. just clean it off. for the MP600, i used Remington oil wipes to clean it. i use these oil wipes to clean my guns and knives but you can also use them to clean multi tools as well.i just have one problem w/the MP600. some of the screwdrivers are very difficult to pull out. it feels like they are stuck too tightly togther. i had to struggle getting them out for use. so instead of complaining online, i took out my Remington Rem Oil and gave the MP600 a few drops to loosen up the screwdrivers. now they swing open w/ease.remember, you must clean the MP600 before you use it. you can get Remington oil wipes and the Rem Oil from walmart in the gun section or your local gun stores. they sell them.another thing i hate about the MP600 is the sheath. gosh it looks ugly. i already bought a better 3rd party sheath so it's no big deal. i can't wait to get it so i can start carrying this MP600.i recommend the MP600 if you are looking for a affordable good bang for your buck blade less MADE IN USE multi tool.

Awesome piece of equipment.
Bought this multi tool 12 years ago. It was recently confiscated by an overzealous train staff. So, I bought again. It has served me well over the years.
