Metric Taps, use a drop of cutting fluid
The taps are good, they put a decent thread in the steel..I've only tapped two holes so time will tell

M3 x 0.5 set of 3 taps
I got the M3 x 0.5 sized taps. They come in a set of three in the usual taper, middle and bottom tap. Given the M3 size you don't often get a huge difference between the 3 types and this is no different, they just have different lead-ins.A minor gripe is that the bottom/plug tap still has quite a point on the end so hard to get a decent thread all the way down into a blind hole. This can be fixed yourself by grinding down the tip if it causes you a problem (I did this as I needed as much thread I could get).I only used this with a hand tap and into 3D printed plastic. They cut very easily and the flutes took care of the swarf.Overall a nice little set in a little box to keep them together.

sharp, nice quality taps
Nice little set. Seems much better than the cheao sets.

Better quality then most without breaking the bank.
I've had a number of cheaper Taps before and they never seem to last, especially those in sets so I decided to invest in better ones in sizes I use regularly.I've used Rennie tools milling cutters in my CNC machine and have always been happy with their quality so I though I would give these a go.I must say I am impressed so far they have performed flawlessly with no drama (that's what you want in a tap, that sickening feeling seeing half a tap is not what you want).I always use a cutting fluid with the taps and keep them perpendicular to the hole if possible in the mill or a drill press using a tap follower and a good quality handle (look at the eclipse ones no too expensive and made in the UK).I have added a few other sizes that I think I will use, in most of the sets there are sizes I never seem to find a use for I find M4,M6,M8,M10 do most of what I come across.

worked fine
M3.5 x 0.6. Worked fine. I put them under a field mocroscope as I couldn't see any significant difference between the 3 of them. Tried one and it worked just fine. no complaints.

Does the job, but should have more teeth
Its always nice to get the opportunity to review Rennie tools as they have been really good to date. This will however be the first not to get a full 5 star review from me.The item is a full set of 3 taps, the first taper tap, to get the thread started, a second to follow that which improves the initial thread and a bottoming tap that follows the second and completes the thread at the bottom of blind holes. The taps work fine as would be expected, my concern though is that the tapped section on the tool is quite short, measuring only 12mm of teeth, but allowing for a full depth of 18mm on a plain shaft. This means that the teeth will become blunt more quickly as there are less of them doing the work. Many other taps have a fully toothed section across the whole 18mm, come on Rennie, add in the missing teeth.Conversely of course, tapping an 18mm deep thread for an M3 thread would be unusual, but unless you know the application, that decision should not be made by the tool manufacturerTapping performance is good, I ran this through a couple of nuts and into a piece of steel, it worked as you would expect and there were no nasty squeaks as its going in with cutting oil and the resulting thread was good, readily accepting a random M3 screw in my parts drawer.

Waste of money
Total rubbish, all 3 snapped in the holes, poor material, put hardly any pressure on them but they just snapped. I'd like a refund
