Not going to lie, I'm a bit skeeved out about this being sourced from algae, probably because I associate that word with the terrible conditions my childhood goldfish suffered before I learned to be responsible with cleaning his bowl.That said, this oil's flavor is very nice, clean and earthy, somewhat umami.I don't know how durable it is as a frying oil, so I've only used it as a finishing oil so far. But so far so good in moderation.As long as I don't think back to goldie slowly suffocating in her filthy water while 5-year-old me couldn't be bothered to notice, it's very tasty on noodles and in stirfry!

I was ready for this oil to totally blow my mind and elevate my Asian dishes. But, the flavor is so mild, it didn't really change much of anything. I do still use it knowing that it is much healthier than the majority of oils, but it's done little to really make a difference as far as my cooking goes. And because it is on the pricier side, I likely won't be ordering again.

This is a well-packaged product, with a seal on the bottle itself and two screw caps, one outer and one inner, that ensures you do no leak oil everywhere, but still are able to add exactly how much you want. I used this on my lasagna and I liked it a lot. My only complaint is that it is incredibly mild. As an older person, my taste buds are not as refined as they once were, and perhaps thats why I can barely taste anything at all except the oil itself. There's a very faint shiitake mushroom flavor if you really, really concentrate. Though one of the ingredients is urfa chile, I cannot taste any heat or spice to this oil, which would have been a major selling point as I love spicy food.
