Green Arrow in Training
OK- so we might not win parents of the year getting a toy weapon for a five year old, but our son is into Super Heroes like Hawkeye and Green Arrow…so…we took a chance on the Petron Sports Sureshot Crossbox and it actually has turned out to be a great toy- under constant supervision of course. There is not much assembly required so it’s ready to use within about 10 minutes. The bow is made of heavy duty plastic so it has some stability behind it and can withstand a bit of manhandling by a youngster. I will say, it was smaller than I imagined- I feel a bit silly firing it but it is seems to be abotru the right size for a 5 year old to handle. The darts themselves are heavy plastic with a rubber suction head to allow them to stick to most surfaces. One should be careful as they do shoot with some velocity- I am not too concerned with standard windows but they may crack things like mirrors or knock over glass bottles pretty easily. After we shot the first couple, we decided it was an outdoor toy- one where we aimed at a specific target or used in an open area and shot for distance. It’s pretty accurate for a toy and the loading operation is easy enough to master that our child can do it with a bit of help- of course that just means the parents have to be that much more careful as the temptation is great to aim for one’s brother. The darts are rubber so I don’t think they would hurt…but still. Also, one has to be sure no one is too close to the shooter when he fires- the crossbow strands do flex out and could cause some injury if you are hit by them.Overall, it’s a fun toy and we will probably look at other Petron products like the full sized bow once the boys are a bit bigger and are still into super heroes.

Accurate, Sturdy and Fun
This may have been a little smaller than I was envisioning...Glad there are some reviewer photos now, but it is way more sturdy than I expected. This is actually a pretty serious little toy here. It does propel the bolts with some zip, so not good for adding to our nerf gun wars, but great for random target shooting. And comparing this to Nerf, this is definitely more accurate, perhaps because the darts don't deform, but I think mostly because this has a great release. There is minimal assembly, and I'm glad that they chose sturdiness over some loose click in solution. The action is plenty ease for the kids 8-15, and the fun and challenge has kept them all busy using it. I am impressed about how many creative shooting challenges they have made for themselves. For the price, this is a very well made toy.

It’s ok.
My son wanted this so badly!!! We decided this one because of its high reviews. He still loves it and is making it work but....The bow part falls off with every shot. It’s quite annoying having to repeatedly put it back on. Had I have known... we wouldn’t have purchased it. I wanted to return. He does not.But my personal choice... I don’t care for it.It does shoot as expected.

works well enough...fun for kids!
This item was easy to assemble...came with 3 darts...our 3 year old loves it. It is a bit advanced for his age but he was still able to comprehend some steps in how to shoot it. Also our 8 year old loved it! The string won't fly forward until you have it completely pulled back and hooked down with a dart securely in place. The accuracy is not very good but I don't know if that's me or the bow lol it shot kind of low.. overall it helps with hand eye coordination and excitement for the kids... Some darts stuck. Some didn't. They probably stuck 85 percent of the time. They are suction darts so we actually just targeted our oven door lol it was a perfect smooth surface 😁

Awesome toy crossbow
My son is obsessed with hunting with daddy, so they go outside in the backyard, dressed in camo, and "hunt". This Crossbow was the perfect toy to involve him and teach him the rough basics of aiming and trigger, before we get a real crossbow and start teaching him with that! Our son is only 3, and he enjoys this toy, even though the recommended age is 8. Of course, he is only using this with adult supervision, and needs help loading the dart, but still enjoys it.The dart is also a little off target, but who really wants this crossbow shooting accurately all the way across the yard? It's accurate within 1 foot up to 10 feet away, which is great for a cheap toy!

Very cool!
Very cool introductory crossbow toy for kids. Its super sturdy and well made with a very firm stock and a spring steel bow that is actually what is propelling the dart. This isn't a spring in the handle like some cheaper toys. The string notches back and when released by the trigger shoots the dart along the guide and off toward the target. This is a toy and while its an outside toy ours works very well in a long hallway inside for target practice. As with most toys I wish it came with more than three darts but that's really the only negative I have about this toy. Great for skills development (it's a toy, not a precision marksmanship device) and fun for younger kids!

Lame
Rather small and flimsy even for the 7 year old to whom I gave it, let alone 8 and up. No target on back of box, contrary to product description.
