A noodle replacement?
I previously had no experience with this, but had used for years the black fungus, which has a different and arguably stronger flavor. This I found this to be quite delighting, as as noted in the Q&A something that could replace noodles in some way. Certainly a bit bland (not in a negative way) taste, just as noted "noodley". I have enjoyed it in a soup with veggies (such as Napa cabbage or baby boy choy) and meat and a nice broth. Overall quite pleased and will order more.

What the ...
Where do I start with this? I bought this just to try something different in the mushroom family. One cube took over my kitchen! They grow and they just don't stop. They are delicious and completely worth it! Do not rehydrate in a small or medium bowl, you will definitely want a decent sized bowl for rehydration. I don't know how they store after cooking, the kids have yet to leave any leftovers, they are that good! They are not slimy, they are firm. The taste, texture and palpability are top notch. We will be ordering again. Great product and honestly for the amount you get per dried cube the value is amazing! If I could give it 10 stars I totally would

Great quality product
Great product. I soaked the small package in water, didn’t expect the volume would expand so much to the point of overflowing. It was very good quality too! I would recommend this product to everyone who’s looking to buy good quality white fungus for making soap or stir fry.

Way too much packaging
The box is shrink-wrapped, okay sure. You open the box to find a cardboard insert, so maybe 60% of the box is empty space. The cardboard insert contains 10 smaller individual cardboard boxes. Each of those tiny boxes contains a small brick of compressed fungus that is itself shrink-wrapped. Even more plastic. The fungus expands quickly, and is delicious in a flavorful sauce or soup. Doesn't have much flavor itself, rather like a flat pasta that won't easily break apart. It'll hold onto the flavor of whatever you add it to very well. Each brick makes a ton of fungus. I like to add a bit to a bowl of ramen or soup, and for that it was way too much. If it's going to be a pasta replacement or other main ingredient in a soup, that's fine.I wonder if I can find this kind of fungus in a more loose form factor to have less packaging and also only add a small amount, like some of the other dehydrated mushrooms & seaweed I have in the pantry.

Good packaging and delicious addition to foods
I purchased as was suggested this is a healthy mushroom to eat. I was pleasantly surprised on how delicious they taste in the foods and appreciated the texture it brought. They are condensed to a small block, once soaked for short time in warm water they expand out to beautiful noodle looking mushrooms. They have a blank pallet on the taste so they blend into foods and add a wonderful noodle like texture. Is great addition to a food in which you'd like the noodle texture but not necessarily gluten.

Bloating and GI issues.
Product is convenient and easy to use but I did not have a good time with my product. Taste and texture are like the other similar products I’ve gotten in store but this one gave me pretty substantial bloating and GI distress afterwards. Not sure if I just got a bad batch since I haven’t noticed similar reviews or I have some kind of reaction to one of their preservatives, but I would be careful.Tested smaller exposures and ruled out other ingredients I used at the time, so it’s definitely this product. Too bad because the size and quantity is convenient.

Amazing expansion, lots of healthy mushroom!
One tiny pack of this expands into a huge bowl of food. I've tried it twice, eating it with a sesame sauce I make, and care barely get through the whole bowl at once. It does absorb flavors so I am using a pretty strong flavored sauce (tahini, shoyu, toasted sesame oil, ginger and garlic, himalayan salt, a tiny bit of maple syrup, optional goji berries, cumin, paprika). I just heat a saucepan of water and throw in the compressed bit and in seconds it fills the pot. Then I drain it and mix in the sauce. There are lots of other recipes, including sweet soups, as well as information on significant nutritional/healing benefits. Supposed to be good for skin as it is loaded with hyaluronic acid (which means probably good for eyes and joints as well).
