Great printer
I bought this printer as it was recommended by Which as good for photo printing. The quality of the prints is very good, as is the quality of documents. Photo printing is a bit slow (which Which had already mentioned) but for someone like me that wants to print occasional photos it's fine. The scanner is really good and fast. Finally as it uses ink the cost of printing is lower than cartridges. A good buy.

Good text printing
Printer was easy enough to set up including WIFI printing. I bought this printer for text and photo printing. It fits the bill for text printing but when it comes to photo printing this prints out too dark from a phone but too light when printing from my laptop, hence my score for print quality. It may be there is a setting that needs adjusting but I've not been able to rectify as yet.

Best printer I’ve ever bought, Cheap on ink
Love this printer, I’ve printed 100 photos and at least 200 normal pages with colour. Most printers would use a fortune in ink to do what I’ve done. I know it’s the best most affordable printer to run that I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a lot. Last one was a canon and it cost a fortune to run. Well done Canon for upgrading to something worth buying and it is that good, I actually can’t stop telling people. So easy to refill too, you just tip a bottle of ink into a reservoir. Couldn’t be easier for a Grannie to use :)

Fantastic printer
I've had great success with this printer. Photocopy if quick and easy, scanning is good, sharp images with accurate details of the originals. I've now printed loads of old photos using Canon paper and I'm thrilled with the results so far. I'm not sure why previous reviews said filling the ink tanks may be messy, I managed with no mess at all. Previously had an Epson which was useless , leaked all over photos, so very happy.

Great quality printer with affordable inks.
Purchased this printer as was tired of buying expensive inks and our printing workload had increased with the children home-schooling during lockdowns. The print quality is good and the scanning facility works well. Speed of printing is acceptable but not overly fast. Overall a great printer/scanner for the price and ongoing running costs.

Display panel unreadable and application software unusable. Printhead failed after 5 months.
Bought this Canon G4511 for low cost printing from Windows/Mac desktops, iPads and mobile phones. The instructions are far from clear and it took me >1 hour to set up inks and get the wi-fi connections working. Unlike some user feedback, I have found the wi-fi to be robust and reliable. Ultimately, this depends on the quality of your home wi-fi network rather than the printer itself. The printer display is extremely small and unreadable in normal light. It requires a bright light source trained on the LCD unit. Printer operation is CLUNKY, SLOW AND NOISY, but once it actually starts printing, it is OK. It doesn't wake itself up and has to be manually switched on. It has auto switch off within about 60 mins of last use. No auto duplex printing here, so you have to do it manually by trial and error. I succeeded in printing out 150 double-sided A4 sheets in short order without any noticeable reduction of ink levels. Reasonable print quality which depends on the weight and finish of paper used. The biggest deficiency I've found so far is when scanning documents to .pdf file format. Again, the user instructions were completely unintelligible and it took me three hours to scan 6 pages of documents. The printer doesn't seem to know whether it is being operated from the PC or the front panel. Too many options provided by the overcomplicated, clunky, slow and unreliable software. Totally unfit for function, though the .pdf files I finally obtained had acceptably good focus and resolution. It would be much easier to provide USB/SDHC sockets for connection of pendrives, memory etc for saving .jpeg and .pdf files.Despite all the negative comments above, the Canon G4511 cost less than 2 sets of replacement ink cartridges for my HP printer. Also a set of four Canon 70ML ink bottles can be purchased for under £40 and will last much longer than expensive HP ink cartridges. Cost effective printer with a lot of limitations.POSTSCRIPT: 5 months of reliable operation, ink reservoirs still >65% full but refuses to print black. I’ve done all the recommended print head flushing and cleaning cycles but still refuses to print black. Looks like I need to buy a super expensive replacement print head. Reduced rating to one star.
