I messed up- I didn't realize this was battery-powered. The last time we bought a trash can with an automatic lid it had a battery backup, but was mainly powered via wall outlet. This one does not have that option, but that's my fault not the manufacturers.This works exactly as described. It's durable, quiet and locks in smells (including stinky diapers). There was virtually no assembly involved. Since I thought it was powered via wall outlet I didn't have Type C batteries handy (not a common one for around the house stuff) so I had to wait to use this. Overall though no complaints. It's a solid product.

The media could not be loaded. In love with this purchase!! Must buy if you’re looking to upgrade the traditional looking trash can to a nice modern trash can. Looks great in my kitchen. No more touching the trash can ,the sensor is great just put my hand close to it and boom trash can opens. Easy to assemble I really have zero complaints about it. I would 100% recommend this upgrade

Great garbage can - with a few flaws.1. The automatic sensor to open the can works great - but it’s not amazing at detecting your hand is still there and often closes early while I’m still throwing something out.2. Batteries not included. In 2025, it’s kinda expected for these kinds of things to come with batteries. Just makes the experience better and easier. Plus these are C size batteries which is annoying.3. Lid doesn’t “snap” into place and if the can is knocked over - the lid comes right off. We have cats and a dog and I wanted this to be secure.

This automatic trash can has been a great addition to my kitchen. The motion sensor works flawlessly—it opens quickly without having to touch anything, which is perfect when your hands are full.It holds a good amount of waste (50L) and the stainless steel finish looks sleek and is easy to wipe clean.The lid responds consistently, and it’s very quiet.Highly recommend this for anyone who values convenience and cleanliness in their home.

8/29/2021 - 4th updateStill using this trash can. Looks very much as it did from day one. No dents. Some minor signs of wear but nothing noticeable to someone not looking for it. Operates just as it did from day 1. It is used daily and batteries require replacement about every 18 months. My oldest son loved it so much he bought one for his first home. When it finally gives out, I hope the same item is available for repurchase because I will replace it immediately. Worth every penny and then some.5/6/2018 - 3rd update.It's been 10 months and this thing still looks brand new and works as well as it did the day I got it. It's used multiple times every day and I've replaced the batteries only once. I hope it lasts, at least, another 10 months but I'll be buying again if and when it ever breaks.Original review and an update:Updating my review to 5 stars today. It's been 4 and a half months. I've only had to replace the batteries once so far. It is still working perfectly and almost everyone who sees it wants to know where I bought it. I was worried about the exterior getting dents. It's been knocked over a few times and it still looks brand new. Not even a tiny dent or scratch. It's super easy to wipe clean when needed. The lid has been removed countless times to change the trash bag but still fits snuggly like it did on day 1. Really glad I purchased this.Today, I like it ... but I understand most of the negative reviews.The trash can looks sharp. I'm decorating a new home and was torn between certain trash cans. A trash can isn't exactly an item you want showcased in your kitchen and this one definitely stands out ... but I was intrigued by the touch-free feature and it is only $10 more than the last plastic trash can I purchased. I decided to pull the trigger and give it a try ... with low expectations.It came decently packaged but not protected enough to withstand dents/damage had anything terribly heavy been tossed on the box during transit. The trash can is thin and not nearly as sturdy as your typical plastic containers ... but probably sturdy enough if you are careful with it. Some people have complained that their lids did not fit properly. I can see this occurring quite easily. Some buyers have complained about the lid not sealing well enough to keep out odors. I don't toss things in my trash that could stink up my kitchen so this would never be an issue for me. This container is operated by 4 AA batteries. I cannot review battery life yet though I will update this in a few months.The trash can opens easily and in a timely manner. We don't have to wave our hand over the sensor. We simply place our hand or the trash directly over the lid and it opens immediately. I do wish it would close sooner. There is 6-7 second delay. The trash can also produces a noise when the lid opens and a louder one upon closing. It's not an offensive sound but noticeable even from the next room.We are all digging the touch-free feature and I like the stainless steel appearance more than I thought I would. So far, it gets 4 stars. I'll update after we've had a chance to put it to good use. I'm curious how long this thing will last and honestly thinking we'll be lucky to have it functioning and without dents in 6 months. But, for now, we like it and I have no regrets in buying it.

Love this trash can, only reason it doesn’t get 5 stars is because there is a delay on the sensor! I still like it very much.
