It’s a solid product, very easy to install and remove drives, and it runs pretty quietly. You do need a small Philips screwdriver for the drive installation (btw, drives are NOT included on this setup) and then the front locks with a small key. The key thing is the only thing that irritates me about these kind of ex closures, because there’s always the chance you might lose them. That last point aside, it’s a very good product.

This hard drive array is excellent. I was specifically looking for a Thunderbolt drive array that could be configured as RAID 5, and this one met all my requirements. The unit comes with OWC’s software, which is very easy to use for configuring and maintaining the array. Setting up the RAID and formatting the drives was straightforward, and the software also helps monitor the health of the system. I currently run several different storage arrays. In the photo I included with this review, you can see my storage setup. From left to right is my own array configured using Apple’s software, the OWC Thunderbolt array, and an older Drobo unit. On my network I also run a Synology RAID 5 array. While the Synology works well, the software had a bit of a learning curve compared to the simplicity of the OWC setup. I am using the OWC array connected to a Mac mini, and it integrates perfectly with macOS over Thunderbolt. In the OWC unit, I installed five 22TB Seagate drives. I simply installed the drives, launched the software, and it handled the configuration from there. The system is flexible and allows multiple RAID configurations depending on your needs. One important note for those considering backup solutions: many cloud backup services do not support RAID arrays or network storage. I originally used Carbonite, which would not back up my Synology or OWC arrays. I switched to Backblaze, and it backs up everything without issue—including about 74TB of data. The OWC array is very fast, and I rely on it heavily for my drone and photography work, where large files and high transfer speeds are critical. Overall, this is a powerful and reliable storage solution for anyone who needs large, fast, and well-managed storage. A couple of things to keep in mind: Actual speed will depend on the drives installed and the RAID configuration you choose. Also, some cloud backup services still limit RAID or NAS backups, so it’s important to confirm compatibility before choosing a backup provider.

Acquistato per lavori di post produzione cinema, assieme a 4 HD 6Tb Red pro. Con l'applicazione SoftRaid inclusa ho realizzato un RAID5 da 18Tb. Affidabilissimo, anche grazie alla connessione TB3, estremamente ben costruito, tutto in metallo. Unico neo, per chi lavora in un contesto dove i supporti sono spesso formattati per differenti sistemi operativi: l'applicazione SoftRaid della OWC *NON* è compatibile con Paragon (che permette di montare dischi in formato Mac OSX sotto Windows) per cui ho dovuto acquistare MacDrive (sempre della OWC) per poter installare SoftRaid e utilizzare i dischi Mac OSX per i quali Paragon era sempre andato bene.

Jättebra. Fungerar utmärkt med SoftRaid. Tänk dock på att med 4 stycken hårddiskar i så låter det en del.
