Flexi New Classic Retractable Dog Leash (Cord), 26 ft, Medium, Red

I don’t write very many reviews of product I purchase. Not unless they’re crap or excel. The FLEXI CLASSIC RETRACTABLE DOG LEASH is the latter. In the few months I’ve had it, my dog Trout and I have ABUSED this thing. 4-5 walks per day, tossing the unit in the car, countless drops from waist high, multiple times it’s been pulled out of my hands as it tumbles after Trout on tarmac & trail, as he bounds away. He chews on it, I regularly step on it, zip tied it to a fence post and used it as a stationary dog run lead. And just this morning, months later, it occurs to me that in terms of its intended purpose, it is operating just as it did the first day: It retracts lighting quick, faster than Trout can run back to me. Other than expected wear & tear, no fraying or signs of the cord nearing end of life. The case is horribly scuffed up from Trout dragging it around, but is solid and no signs it is coming apart. I would highly recommend this leash to any dog owner on the hunt for a durable product.

I've used Flexi leases for multiple dogs over many years. They always last, I expect 5 years plus of daily use from them. I've tried to save a couple of bucks with cheaper retractable leases and they just don't work. The retractable spring tension gets weak, and they break down internally and either jam, or stop retracting. This Flexi is a cord type, 26' long for an active 40 lb. dog. I also have a tape Flexi 16' for the same dog. The tape one is a large, and the cord a medium. Both work great, and the tape one has a nice strong retraction spring. So, I use the tape one mainly with the cord as a back up.

We took our young miniature schnauzer up to my mom’s ranch for a visit. We were not comfortable letting him run loose with the other “ranch dogs,” so we got this 26’ retractable leash. It worked out great! We love it! Durable, comfortable in the hand, and easy to use.

My dogs 16 ft. flexi leashes were wearing out, the cords were sagging and not retracting after years. So I upgraded to the 26 ft ones. Bought used from Amazon Warehouse- perfect like new! Saved $10 each! Murphy (got blue 💙) didn't notice he could walk further away from me, even though he did. Cali, my Service Dog (got red ♥️) felt the stronger tension on the cord, so stayed close thinking I was holding her back. She has yet to figure out she can go 26 ft away to do her business, and she will love that. But she is too sweet to pull and walk away, while she thinks I don't want her too. Gonna have to wait until she sees a deer or bunny to get her to go further and enjoy her new exploring leash in my unfenced backyard in the mtns. She will especially love it when it snows; she will have room to run and play in the snow, while I can stay dry under the patio, lol. Looking forward to Autumn and Winter using these to let my dogs do their business farther from the house!

We have used these leashes with several different dogs and the 16' works well to allow some wandering, but not too much. We got the 26' one because both us and our 32 lb docile dog are old and on snowy or icy days we can no longer walk her. But we have a back deck with mostly brush behind it. Condo and safety rules say don't let the dog loose. With this long leash, she can go off the deck, have enough line, and still be controlled. However, the 26' cord is much lighter that the 16' cord. This would not be a good leash for a large or high-energy dog. It is a tool that should be fit to the job.

This met our needs perfectly. I needed a longer line for our new adopted Lab/Border Collie. He’s still learning the boundaries. The brake button makes it easy to slow him down then release & retract or let out more line. It’s strong enough to pull him out of places he shouldn’t be, yet it’s lightweight to carry. My somewhat mobility impaired husband has no trouble with it. I can lock it with a foot or so of cord outside (this is in addition to the strap and tie) and leave it on the table while attaching it to Bill’s collar.

Simply the best. Second one in 20 years and mechnanism of first one did not ever break. Original made in Germany product that is of high quality, super safe and easy to operate and superbly engineered. Much longer than other reteactabke leashes. Great value.

I use the small/medium size for our Westin. One of my favorite features is the fact that it locks so I can keep it at a specific length. This allows me to have him stay next to me to Heal for my continuing attempts at training him to stay and so forth. Then the lead can be unlocked for extra length for more freedom. It’s really made well, and is quite durable. Also, provides me with a feeling that I could reel him in if I needed to for some reason.

We have a growing puppy and started out with a basic Retractable Leash from the dollar store, and this Flexi leash does not even compare, in a class of its own! You won’t regret this purchase. We chose medium and it works great with our 25lbs dog that is knee height. Length is great so he can explore without being off leash. No complaints about this product. Works fantastic.

Great as required, it retracts as fast as the dog unlike some others on the market and as a puppy thats fast so she can not get caught up in the lead, important !
