Nope... The gourds have the electronics need for the veena to work. The power in, speakers amplifier are are inside it.

Q: Can we not use either power or battery and just play it like a normal veena

Your thought defeats the purpose of the device itself. Would you expect to turn off your TV and use it as a black board when needed?

Amazing instrument

Very good quality veena. Better than it's previous model. Easy to assemble and use. The guitar screws fr adjustment are so convenient as is the built in tampura. Satisfied my long standing wish of playing the veena.Arrived v safely. Extremely good packaging. Carefully handled and shipped. Just like other Raedel products. Good quality and trustworthy. Value for money.

Excellent

Wonderful instrument. Super light weight and easy to assemble and dismantle and carry. Packaging was a bit off though... so much garbage was stuffed into the carton.
