The Last Days: The Last Jihad, Book 2

Best I’ve read in a long time!
I’m a reader. I read a book every couple days. I love action and smart books where I’m learning something, where to the best of the author’s ability they’ve followed the real world. This series is the first I’ve read of Rosenberg but I am hooked! And for someone with several thousand books marked “read” in their library that means something. I highly recommend this book this author and am looking forward to catching up with all he’s written!

Compelling action
The last days of MY come to life in this work of fiction that parallel the scriptures. Rosenberg has the details down to keep reading to the end. Middle East is his expertise.

Rambles too much
A good book but there is way too much background information on too many of the characters. The schools they went to, how they got the jobs, who they met, how they got hired by a particular agency etc. It makes for tedious reading sometimes. The action parts are well written and he doesn’t hold anything back or mind eliminating key characters if it builds the plot. A little disappointed but I read some of his later books first and this is one of the earlier ones.

Riveting
It's fiction. Barely. It kept me up all night. Even after finishing, I was too wound up to sleep right away and had to do something else for awhile. Nonstop action practically the whole book, 450 pages worth of tiny print. The situations the important leaders get into and out of are downright harrowing. What makes it so compelling is how realistic the whole thing is. This guy has done his homework, and he has the uncanny ability to write about possible events that haven't happened yet, and DO happen after the book is completed. The story centers around the conflict between Israel and Palestine. It starts in the thick of things with a bang. The main characters have a hair raising escape, only to go on to the next threat. Other than a few pages of excerpts from a suggested treaty, which were a bit tedious, the action never stops, and is even interwoven between the excerpts. The outcome of this book is unbelievably desirable, and I haven't seen it happen yet. One can always hope. But many of the events DID happen eventually.I read police procedurals and mysteries now and then, but none have had anywhere near the impact of this book.If you want to be kept on the edge of your seat for a very good read, start with the preceding book, The Last Jihad. It is equally awesome. And put your political prejudices aside. But certainly, read this book!

I like the series, wish they were smart enough to put the order number on the covers or in the descriptions!
I accidentally started reading the series in the middle because Amazon and the publisher have provided nothing to indicate the order of the series, no numbering, no numbers on the cover, no list that indicates the order so people could know which to read first. So to the actual review, I like a touch more of sexual tension or chemistry between McCoy and Bennett, the author hints around the edges too much for me. However this is a tension filled and occasionally surprising mystery with Christian values without trying to be too preachy although some of the books do. I've read 5 of the books now and enjoyed them all, they draw me in and make me want to keep going. If I would change anything it's that the author relies too heavily on current events and people, and makes predictions about the outcomes or activities which are often wrong. This is distracting because your mind jumps to the real history of the people and nations he mentions that you know is wrong. To track with the story you have to force your mind from recalling real life situations and history to allow for the real life characters, places, and history to be ignored for the story to work.If I were the author I would use current events and places but make up leaders, kings and other villains just like he does with his heros that are not real. Once history catches or passes his stories the story falls apart or becomes distracting because you know what really happened and the story does not read right.

The Last Days
If you, like me, are hungry for an intelligent, sophisticated, plausible political thriller that is almost TOO believable, but best of all is a journey made by an unbeliever in search of that elusive "thing" his believing friends share (forgive the run on sentence!) then this second novel by Joel C. Rosenberg is for you. There is a huge problem, though. It is near impossible to tear yourself away from it. The action and excitement is so rapid-paced, there is hardly a place to put your book mark and go to sleep at night! This novel takes up where "The Last Jihad," Mr. Rosenberg's first novel, leaves off. I'm happy to say, there are several to follow, each a continuation of the previous. You visit many countries, step inside the Situation Room with the President, listen in on his conversations with Israel's leadership as they deal with terrorists among us, ride along on covert ops the likes of which we can only imagine, and watch world events careen out of control in a manner that is so close to events we are living that you wonder just what Rosenberg knows that we don't! You won't be sorry you got hooked on these books, and you will ask the main character, Jon Barrett...."Why can't you make that step of faith? Get on with it!" It isn't preachy, it's just real...and it could help you make that last step yourself! Happy reading!

Last days story
Exciting pace to this novel interspersed with Biblical truths describing a believable scenario that could be experienced on earth in the 'last days' before our Saviour Jesus returns to the earth for His bride - the true church.
