What is a passive input for?

The passive input is for instruments which don't have active electronics (i.e. battery-powered preamp/EQ). Passive instruments also produce a lower-volume output level. Active instruments, by comparison, generate a higher output volume - and therefore, the active input on the amp reduces the bass' output level to prevent the amp circuitry from being overloaded or even damaged.

So... what does "up to 100 watts" mean exactly? 50rms? 100peak?

Not exactly sure from a technical standpoint, but I think it means it could handle up to a 100 watt power amp? Maybe google this issue. But I also own this amp, and it is a 50 watt amp at the speaker...The 100 watt is a bit misleading.

if it comes with a footswitch? What type of pedal is used?

Doesn't come with a footswitch, or even a jack for a footswitch.

Does it come with the cord to plug it in? or do you have to buy that separate ?

If you mean the power cord, yes. If you mean a guitar cable, no.
