Review: A Must-Have for Poe Fans! - As a big fan of Edgar Allan Poe, I knew I had to get Edgar Allan Poe: Complete Tales and Poems as soon as I saw it on desertcart, and it did not disappoint! This collection is absolutely incredible, bringing together all of Poe’s hauntingly beautiful tales and poems in one volume. The quality of the book is excellent, with a sturdy binding and clear, easy-to-read text. It’s perfect for both casual reading and displaying on a bookshelf. Having all of his works in one place makes it a treasure for any fan of classic literature. Whether you’re revisiting your favorites like The Raven or discovering some of his lesser-known works, this book is a joy to own. Highly recommend for anyone who appreciates Poe’s masterful storytelling and poetic genius! Review: Nice Poe Collection - This book with everything inside is around eight hundred some pages and a very nice readable book. The text is not too small nor too large but then again some people may not like it in between but it was perfect for my eyes. There are a ton of stories in this book so get ready for a lot of reading. I have not read too many Poe stories or poems before but it was a lot simpler to understand than I thought. I haven't read Poe since high school about ten years ago so it was nice to go back as an adult to understand it better. The one problem I had with the book is the name of your current story you are reading is not at the top of the page and instead the name of the book is. It is a kind of annoying feature that since I don't bend pages or use bookmarks I have come to dislike. I know I read somewhere someones review with OCD could not stand it and I think I understand why. For some reason I keep looking at the top of the page and not seeing the name of the current story like a normal book. That is such a minor gripe compared to the rest of the book considering the vastness and greatness in the book I have come across. Some stories I didn't know were Poes that I had seen movies of but now I know which is great. Poe from what I remember lived a somewhat tragic existence but his poetry lives on and maybe if his life was different we wouldn't have his great works.

Awesome book
I've finally received this tick volume today. It is very nicely published edition of Poe's works of 1989. The print is solid and not small at all (at least for my eyes). The pages have tanned of age a little but, surprisingly enough, the book itself is absolutely intact, like brand new. I was always looking for Poe's critical writings and this volume has it. Looking forward to long fall evenings of reading with a glass of good armagnac or bourbon. Recent watching "The Fall of the House of Usher" on Netflix has contributed to my strong desire to buy this book and re-read Poe's stories and poems after almost 25 years.

A Thrilling Collection
I was fortunate enough to pick this book up at amazon.com for a very modest price and so I couldn't pass it by, other than that, I barely know why I bought this book considering I am such a chicken. This excellent edition of Edgar Allan Poe's terrifying tales & poems is a must-have for E.A.P. fans and lovers of horror fiction. The image on the dust jacket is just wonderful (though it's not clearly visible in the image, so you'll have to take my word for it), though I really would have liked the inside to be illustrated as well. This huge collection (73 short stories and 48 poems) includes the author's most renowned works such as "The Raven", "The Fall of the House of Usher", "The Murders in Rue Morgue" and "The Tell-Tale Heart". The book also includes a fantastic fourteen-page introduction by Wilbur S. Scott. I do not recommend this book for the faint-at-heart, but if you like suspense and (intelligent) horror, you simply cannot go wrong with this title! Hope this review helps =] GorJess

The Kindle edition has a technical issue. Despite that, it's still good value for the money.
I'm a big admirer of Poe, whom I consider one of the greatest writers ever. That's why being able to get his complete works for just 1.18 dollars (I mean the Kindle edition) seemed nothing short of unbelievable to me at first. Unfortunately, there's a reason for that low price. The table of contents is incomplete. It only covers the first half of the book, give or take. Now, in the case of a normal, printed book this wouldn't be a problem. I rarely use the table of contents myself (in fact, in most cases I'd probably not even notice if it were missing entirely), preferring instead to just leaf through the book until I find what I want. But an e-book is different. It can't be leafed through. For an e-book a good table of contents is essential. For instance, I wanted to read The Raven. The only way I could find it was to use the Kindle's search feature, which returned a lot of matches, then to guess which of these matches might be the correct one. It is useable, but only to the extent a simple PDF file would be. That is, read it sequentially, rely extensively on the search feature, and hope for the best. But then, given the price, we shouldn't be too picky, should we? Update: It seems I was mistaken. While the actual table of contents (what you see when you press "Go To" on your Kindle) is indeed incomplete, there is also a hidden one, which appears to be complete. I stumbled upon it by chance. Instead of going to the beginning of the book (which takes you to the first tale), you must go to the cover, then turn the pages one by one, and you'll see it.

Amazing Book, Amazing Writer
I must admit, I am a Poe fanatic. I have read this book twice already. I do not know what it is about Poes' stories that just suck you in. I find Poes' mindset to be extremely fascinating. I do not think that anyone would be able to decipher what went about in that mans mentality. Reading Poe is beyond a mere thriller. His stories are not only mysterious with intrigue and drama, they also make you think. You sit and ponder 'why?', why did the character do this or say that. Like in my favorite tale "Black Cat", you sit and wonder what made the character behave the way he did. Was it caused by drink or was it caused by 'bad luck'? Or with the ever famous "Cask of Amontidallo", what was the grave insult that Montresor suffered? Such questions will never be directly answered, as all the conclusions will inevitably be suppositions made by people, such as you and I. All in all, reading Poes' stories is mesmerizing in itself, and this book is as complete as it gets. It is a pretty large paperback (not like the mass market) and the font is actually much better than that in the hardback book. This is a worthwhile read at an excellent price.

An amazing storyteller
I bought this book, because about 20 years ago I read a poem by Edgar Allan Poe that lead me into start writing poetry officially. Do I remember what I read that day sadly I do not, however I do know is that I have been fascinated by his work since my teenage years. I didn't know much about his work until I got older so buying this book I can get some more perspective after I read many of his stories and poetry.

A beautiful masterpiece
This book is an excellent copy of Poe's collected works. Although it does not have all the articles Poe wrote,it is otherwise quite complete. As for the book itself,in 1 word,it's gorgeous. The leather on the top and the back feels premium to the touch and is mostly embossed. There are almost no illustrations in the book as well. I have made an unboxing and a short initial impressions video which i am linking here; check it out if you are interested. Definitely recommended to anyone who has even the remotest of interest in Poe The link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lp0Z0DDcV1g
