Turtleback is Almost Turrific (misspeling intentional)
After wasting money twice on the supposedly military grade Body Glove Tough Suit Case with Holster for Samsung Galaxy S5, I found the Turtleback holster. First, let me be fair and honest about the Tough Suit. The case is fine as I well know. Especially after having the phone fall twice in a parking lot, bounce 2-3 times, spin, then come to a hard rest. The phone suffered no harm. The problem with Tough Suite is the spring hip clip. It gets torn off too easily when entering or exiting a vehicle or any tight fit location. This happened to me twice. The Turtleback clip can be displaced if the belt loops aren't also used, yes. BUT it won't be destroyed by the displacement. Not only that, the clip is strong and tight, so while you can displace it accidentally, it's not easy to do so. Now, I don't know how well it will protect the phone from drops because while I dumped the Tough Suite clip segment, I kept the case itself. For me this was a sort of win-win because the Turtleback accommodated the rather bulky case with ease. It fits just right, no squeezing forcing it in, or prying it out when needing to use the phone. The belt loops I have used only once and that was as extra security when attending a college football game. With the belt loops, a snatch and run effort is practically impossible. However, I have since opted to use a forward facing fanny pack that also has a belt secure option when in crowded public places. Why? Despite the Turtleback's virtues, they have a design flaw. The flap is mildly, mildly, mildly secured by magnets. Nice for fast and easy opening, bad for phone security. Plus magnets weaken over time further reducing phone security. Suggestions? Yes, one of the following: 1. Longer flap that buttons at the base of the pouch. Base? Yes, you don't want to be consistently pressing the button against your phone display risking possible damage. 2. A loop for the flap like the belt loops to assist the magnets holding the flap shut. 3. A mini belt on the pouch with a quick lock-quick release clip to secure the flap.

Great solution for large phones; a little tricky to attach to belt
I recently upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy S5, and needed a new case to go with my larger phone. The selection of "classic" cases for 5" phones on Amazon is fairly bleak; the ones that ARE out there are mostly cheap, both in cost and quality. The Turtleback was more expensive than most of these and has fewer reviews, but I took a chance on it. And I've been happy. The construction quality is good: This is not a flimsy, poorly-designed case. The clip is sturdily-attached and high enough up on the back so that the case doesn't lean outwards when worn. The magnets (there are two, one on each end of the flap) keep a firm hold to the case itself. The stitching is excellent, without any loose ends. The case is plenty large enough to fit my Galaxy S5 with my thin Spigen case (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IIWKRH8). I can drop the phone into the case without having to push or squeeze, and yet there's not too much room, so the phone doesn't bounce around. I'd imagine that this would accept a phone with slightly larger case, but I don't know the limits of that (an Otterbox might be too much). The one difficulty I've had with it was learning how to attach it to my belt. The back of the case is slightly concave, which makes it a little hard to maneuver to get the clip over my belt by touch. I eventually got the hang of it, but it's a little more tricky that other similar cases I've had.But that's a minor quibble: If you're looking for a 5"-class phone case, this is the best on Amazon right now.

Very good holster! I'm happy to see that it is made in USA!I really like how the clip holds the phone on my belt. The phone is mostly underneath my belt, so it doesn't stick up into my side when sitting down, and the clip also holds the top of the pouch out just a little, which makes it more comfortable. I also like the swivel on the clip. It makes it easy to swivel the phone when I'm working and need it to move.If I rotate the pouch 180 degrees and pull up on it, the pouch will disconnect from the clip. This is a neat feature, and I have never had it come off accidentally before.I have a thin kickstand case on my Galaxy S5 and it fits in the pouch with a little room to spare. It used to be a little tight sliding the phone out of the pouch, but it has gotten a little easier now. This holster has really protected my phone and kept me from losing it. I've had to crawl on my side in the dirt while working under farm equipment with my phone in this holster, and the holster stayed on me and protected my phone. My first holster for my Galaxy S5 was an Otterbox Defender, which was really bulky and uncomfortable and didn't stay on as good and also didn't protect the phone as good as this Turtleback holster.

A Change of Mind
This review is submitted in place of one I originally wrote about the Turtleback phone case. I gave the case a 1-star rating because the bottom corners of the case were not stitched properly. Amazon authorized me to return the case for a refund, but I decided to keep it. After using the case for a few weeks, I am now of the opinion that the stitching on the corner seams will not affect the functionality of the case at all. There is no indication at all that any other seams are coming apart or that the seams in question will pose any risk to the phone. This is an excellent case for my Galaxy phone. I feel certain that it will last a very long time--probably a lot longer than my phone will last. I now regret the hasty review I wrote within a day of the delivery. Turtleback contacted me (by email) just today about my negative customer experience, and I am glad for their personal interest in maintaining customer satisfaction. I would not hesitate buying this same case again if the need arose. I still think quality control over the sewing process is worth their investigation, but my problem is that I suffer from perfectionist tendencies. I gladly give this case five stars as compensation for being too demanding.
