It is not effective

It's actually much bigger than I thought it would. Comes with two AA batteries. Right out of the box I got my ZAP on and started a mass slaying of these dreaded fruit flies. I left for two weeks and forgot I had bananas on my counter. I came home to a full-on assault. My friend had gotten one of these Zapper Rackets, and she loved it, so I decided to give it a go, and now I feel like Novak Djokovic. You definitely need to get them right into the threads to zap them, so it's easiest when they're lying in wait and going over their annoyance strategies.

This is a fun product but the springs in the case for the batteries is horrible. The batteries keep loosening, so you have to keep adjusting them. It works half the time because batteries are loose.

Great item for your porch or deck.
