Fantastic
My in-attic air conditioning unit is suspended with a metal tray under it to catch any water that overflows from a possible clogged drain. If the tray overflows the water drips down to my ceilings. The shut off switch was faulty so I replaced it with the WaterSiren Plus. Now any water overflows will shut off my air conditioner and sounds an alarm. It has saved me twice now. It would also work well in a basement.

GARBAGE. Nothing more than a false sense of security
Getting to the point, the WaterSiren Plus is GARBAGE, absolute GARBAGE. Purchased in late 2013, the WaterSiren Plus connection to the Dialer, its sensitivity to moisture and the Dialer's ability to dial-out have been tested regularly. Weekly, I remotely checked-in with the Dialer and received reports that "there are no alarm conditions ......" Unfortunately, being the GARBAGE that it is, the WaterSiren failed to trigger an alarm condition when the sump pump failed leaving 2 feet of basement water. I thought I was protected, however, being the GARBAGE that it is, the WaterSiren provides nothing more than a false sense of security. Lesson learned.... If it's worth protecting, it's worth investing in quality equipment. I shouldn't have expected much for $36 other than the GARBAGE I received. Next, I'll see if Amazon prints this review “as-submitted” warning others of the risk of buying GARBAGE.

Water Siren Plus
The Siren arrived promptly with no shipping damage. It looks to be of high quality and will serve the function it is designed for. I was expecting a Siren sound but the tweeting will work but could be louder. Overall I would buy again.

Great product; just keep it out of the water!
I use the Water Siren Plus in conjunction with an automatic dialer to alert me to the presence of adverse conditions in a second residence. The package instructions indicate that you can use the Water Siren Plus in two ways. You can either place the unit directly on the floor or you can detach the small sensor part from the main unit and locate it in a hard to reach area (there is a wire that connects the sensor to the siren unit). Since I did not have a hard to reach application, I opted to place the entire siren unit on the floor. By the time I was able to respond to an alarm condition, there was already 1 inch of water on the floor. The Water Siren electronics were fully submerged and shorted out. To the credit of the Water Siren Plus, it performed as it should and I was able to respond to a bad situation that would have been much worse had I not been alerted. Also, I was able to clean up and dry out the shorted out unit and it returned to full operation. However, since the unit was powered when it shorted out, many of the connections are corroded and can not be trusted long-term. This recent purchase is for a replacement unit. I have taken caution from my experience and detached the sensor from the siren unit so that I could place the siren unit that contains sensitive electronics in a spot where it will not get wet. In the meantime, the small sensor sits on the floor, remaining vigilant in its never ending watch for water.

WaterSiren Plus Works great
I hooked it up to my alarm and dialer and gave it a test and it worked flawlessly.I think their Freeze alarm FA-D2 would probably do a good job instead of my complicated alarm system. Amazon had the best price also.

Works, but could use refinement
I bought this gadget as part of a (now discontinued) bundle from the manufacturer. The bundle included an earlier version of their automatic dialer. The dialer has issues of its own, but that's for another review. The manufacturer points to the fact that the battery in the Water Siren Plus is in a tray. However, the rest of the horn unit is clearly not waterproofed - and even the battery tray will be under water if you get any kind of serious flooding. In fact, another reviewer reported that his alarm stopped working when submerged and is now corroded. That really limits the alarm's utility. But wait! The water sensor (just two contacts on a plastic piece that snaps into the bottom of the horn unit) is on a wire that's a few feet long. You can snap it out of the horn unit and mount the horn above water level.Problem solved! Well, maybe. This is not a pro-grade unit. The wires connecting the contacts to the horn unit are some of the thinnest I've ever seen, even in consumer products. I can't imagine any reason for them to be that fine, other than maybe the cost (copper is pricey these days, and there isn't much copper in these wires).Worse, the wires are just clipped to the sensor's plastic and soldered to the exposed contacts. There's no protection at all for them. They could easily snag on something and rip loose. If you didn't notice - there goes your warning.I could also imagine my cat chewing on the wires - yes, he does this, and he's not the first cat I've had with that weird habit! So I could see that the water sensor needed more protection than the designers provided. I took care of the problem with a quick and dirty housing for the sensor.I cut notches in the edge of a plastic peanut butter jar lid, to admit cellar flood water and prevent condensation buildup. I drilled a hole in the middle of the lid and used a machine screw, standoff, and a couple of washers to mount the sensor inside the lid, adding a strain relief clamp for the wire. I also protected the thin wire from sensor to horn with a length of small-diameter split wire loom. It's neither pretty nor elegant, but it works. With the open part of the jar lid on the floor, the contacts on the sensor are about 1/8" above the floor. That way, rising water will trigger the alarm, but condensation won't.This solved the problem of protecting the horn from water, and the sensor from abuse and wear. However, someone less handy (or less patient) than I am might want to look for a unit with a better-protected water sensor.

great item but a bit pricey
this is an excellent product but a bit on the pricey side...the are much lesser priced sirens. but this one has contacts that can be attached to automated dialers and that must be the reason. alarm is loud enough and works instantly. the only thing i could suggest is if it had a light too but thats minor.
