Sweeter than usual (a good thing for me)
My wife is the gin drinker in the house and is quiet happy to quaff a strong plain gin with a good mixer or a flavoured one with the same. Though there are many different flavoured gins out there, very few use elderflower and so the JJ Whitley is especially appealing. First impressions are that the bottle is very attractive and therefore an excellent gift - combine it with the unusual flavour and you have something relatively unique.I usually taste the gin before I serve it to my wife just to see if I can tell the difference. Invariably, it all tastes like that bitter stuff that you used to get painted on your nails to stop you biting them as a child. On the rare occasions I have alcohol, it needs to be sweet. Unless you regular suck on lemons, G&T is definitely not sweet. That said, this Elderflower gin did have the merest sweetness that made it quite appealing to me as a non-gin drinker. But what of Mrs. Pugh, seasoned gin enthusiast? She was very impressed by the taste of elderflower that permeates the gin - it is definitely discernible and makes the whole drink taste fresh and floral. With a good mixer, she gave it a full five stars and will definitely be buying again. With all of this said, if you do not like flavoured gins or prefer them bitter and astringent, this will not be for you. However, if you want to convert a non-gin friend or fancy something refreshing, this is ideal.

A natural taste for a made up fruit!
Blue raspberry is a strange flavour, with its history in American ice-lollies and slushies, in the last decade it has become pretty commonplace. Many of us can recall the blue-raspberry flavour as easily as any real fruits. To me, this vodka catches the flavour perfectly - please reflect that my perception of Blue Raspberry may be very different from yours. The closest flavour I could use as reference is the Reign energy drink. The flavour leads with raspberry, followed closely by some extra berry sweetness, almost a note of citron fruit (A less tart, sweeter lemon flavour) the raspberry is absolutely notable, but there is enough of a distinctive extra flavour to make it... 'Blue'I also have Smirnoff's 'Raspberry Crush' and this definitely has enough difference from a normal raspberry flavour. It lacks the strong chemical tastes of the ice-lollies I remember, and doesn't have the same sourness or sharpness of the energy drink comparisons, which I had worried about. The drink is a very rich blue flavour, similar to the blue Curaçao, and could probably be used in many cocktails to add that deep colouring. I have only drank it neat, with lemonade, and with monster's Ultra (The silver tin, lemon flavour) energy drink. But will certainly be buying again as this bottle will not out-live christmas. The bottle itself is also really nice, as with many J.J. Whitley drinks, it has raised, textured scrollwork. This bottle is not clear, but has a metallic blue surface, making it a great bottle to have on display too.

Great
I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor of this vodka! The raspberry taste is natural, not overly sweet or artificial, which makes it great for mixing into cocktails. It’s smooth enough to enjoy on its own over ice as well. The only reason I’m not giving it five stars is that it could have a slightly stronger raspberry punch for my liking. Overall, though, a delicious and versatile vodka for any bar!

A very tasty gin.
I bought this as a Christmas treat to myself as it was on special.I'm not usually a fan of flavoured gins, but this is has a really nice subtle orangey taste. It's perfect in a Negroni. 2 measures of this gin, 2 measures of red vermouth and then 2 measures of Campari, mixed and served over ice, makes a wonderful refreshing summer drink. The orange in the gin really complements the other ingredients, it's now my favourite way to make a Negroni.Of course, it goes equally well with most other mixers, although not I've found, with tonic. I think that's best had with a good old fashioned traditional gin.It is embossed on the bottle, 'Quintessentially British', although a few years ago Whitley's moved their distilleries to Russia. So, go figure.I should add it's 38% proof, so basically full gin strength.Try it, and see for yourself, especially if you are a Negroni fan.I hope you found this review helpful.

WARNING way too drinkable!!
this gin lost me my job, which in honesty wasn't something I was overly keen on anyway, so perhaps worth the overindulgence. This gin is highly drinkable. I was mixing it with slimline tonic in a low ball glass but it kept emptying too quickly and that last gin I had tipped me over the edge it seems. when the alarm went off my head said a definite no. and I ended up sleeping it off until 3pm. When I realised that I'd downed half a bottle all became fuzzily clear to me. I've not treated myself to gin since purely because I don't trust myself (good advice not to drink alone with this one!!) The health spa where I worked got the grump from cancelling all my clients that day. But when a hotel gets £60 and a therapist gets £9 I was more motivated to go self-employed, which I have. So I can thank JJ Whitley Violet Gin for helping me to gain clarity that way. Definitely a drink for a party. I'll be buying it again. Eventually.

Surprisingly niice
This is actually nice. I thought it would be sweet like AU vodka (similar flavour and colour). It isn't that sweet, it's nice with a little lemonade. It's a creeper lol and it doesn't feel like your drinking 38% vol vodka. It's light. It started to get to me after 2 drinks tbh. I don't mean tipsy or drunk lol (that's very light weight). It's just really moreish, nice. I was sipping them in around 5minutes each though while cleaning up. Thirsty work.
