Worked, But Fuel Gauge is Now Off
This pump sending unit is a direct factory replacement for my 1990 Jeep Cherokee, and for that purpose it performs fine. However, ever since installing it earlier this year I've noticed the gas gauge incorrectly reads 1/4 of a tank higher than what is actually in the tank. I've learned this the hard way.I understand there might be hiccups when installing non-OEM parts to a 25 year old jeep, but to have the sender be so far off for such a cruicial sensor is a big deal. Even if there was some literature that walked you through recalibrating the gas level sender unit it would be a huge help.

Noise airtec fuel pump and sending unit replace with this.
Great great product - replaced new noisy airtec unit with this unit in my 1987 jeep cherokee 4.0 with standard 13.5 gal tank. This unit is for 20 gal tank but could not find 13.5 sending unit so gas gauge shows between 1/2 and 3/4 when topped off and is accurate to empty. At first a little difficult to get sending unit to sit correctly in tank with rubber grommet on return line in tank - just twisted 1/8 of inch entire unit when out of tank so tube and pickup seated in tank correctly. Leave grommet on!! Gasket and sending unit than sat correctly in tank. Also put rubber around fuel filter to prevent any vibration from transfering into jeep. Worked puerfectly - zero noise when pump is running.

My Fuel Pump Failed at first attempt
This and other reviews about this part must be a warning to the manufacturers of Spectra Premium fuel pump. I got this brand new pump out of the box, installed, connected and tested but it does not do the job. I tested out of the Fuel tank and it does not runs. Then I read reviews about this fuel pump and found out that the amount of fails for this part are greater than the satisfactory operations. I returned this part to get another Spectra Fuel Pump I am waiting for and hope to make an excelent review IF the replacement pump do the job it was made for.

Works Great 1989 Jeep Cherokee
I had bought a Carter pump as the Carter was supposed to be made in US while this Pemium pump was made in China. I had to return the Carter and bought this one as a replacement. Works great, sounds as quiet as the Carter. The pump itself has no identifying marks, so the Carter and the Premium pumps looked identical. It comes with a new retaining ring, which is important as the old ring will be damaged when you remove it. It also has a circular rubber seal, where the carter had a square seal, the Premium seal was easier to install than the Carter. However, only 4 stars as the float arm is attached by fitting into a plastic slot. When I installed it the first time, I knocked the float out of the clip. My wife ran out of fuel a 100 miles later. I had to remove, then reset the clip, then reinstall. The second installation with the new seal was really hard as the rubber expands under the fuel exposure, so don't remove it a second time.

Need more quality control
Works but I had an annoying issue. I was happy when the jeep sprang back to life. The only problem was the fuel was reading opposite to what was in the tank (Full tank = Empty gas gauge) To fix this I had the re-solder the bottom solder pad to the top solder pad on the fuel gauge board thing. This made me nervous since the pump still had trace amount of gasoline while trying to solder the thing.

Looks ok, doesn't sound too good though.
Looked ok and went in with no problems. This pump is extremely noisy. I'll update when it goes out which sounds like it could be any time. If you put this in a 91 and up Cherokee the fuel gauge is going to be backwards. It's no fault of the unit but a change in how the gauge is wired from factory.

but I would recommend not installing the rubber O-ring until after you get ...
Fitment was a little challenging. There is a small return tube seal at the base, required about 45 minutes of trial and error to get it to seat inside the tank. No fault of the part, but I would recommend not installing the rubber O-ring until after you get this thing to line up. Otherwise the thicker new O-ring will mess up your angle every time. Otherwise, runs and works great! Thank you!
