Brilliant film but DVD is better than Bluray.
I've seen this film years ago and it's fantastic! I bought a DVD in early 2005, it contains special feature such as blooper, deleted scenes, behind the scenes and also Hong Kong version but sadly I lost it. I am not quite happy with bluray disc because it has no special features at all, the picture and sound quality are ok.I confirm that Bluray does show two different versions, American version (87mins) and Hong Kong version (112mins). Hong Kong version is much better.

Fun movie but few scenes are missing and has been remastered.
Fun movie to watch but few important scenes are missing from this version. To be honest I was really expecting this version to be the original version since I had the original version back then, hence it was a little disappointing for me but I had to swallow the fire anyhow. Nevertheless it brought me little joy.

A film of two halves - extremely witty then extremely poor!
As the cliche goes, this is a film of two halves. The first half is funny, witty, ground breaking stuff - a Kung Fu film that you laugh with and not at. I was amazed at the sharpness of the occasionally surreal comedy and of the fast paced and clever script, that surprised and amazed in equal measure. However, the scene where our hero chats up the female lead is the 'Jump the Shark' moment, where the film turns from ground breaking to cliched and predictable. All the special effects in the world can't make the final match work, and the whole enemy-team-on-drugs ploy doesn't explain why they are so much better than the Shaolin monks.Anyways, the film is definitely worth watching as all new experiences are to be cherished and honoured. Just beware that, like Girl Next Door , it is possible for a film to lose it's rhythm half way and seem cut-and shut...P.S. On an unrelated sidenote, Star Wars VI: Return Of The Jedi fans among you may be interested to know that the ideas of the Jedi & 'The Force' were partly derived from the Shaolin Monks of China...

A welcome respite from superhero flicks
Another insane, over the top action comedy flick starring Stephen Chow. A down on his luck ex-Shaolin monk and his brothers discover Kung fu's potential in an unlikely sports. CGI looks a little dated, but it serves its purpose. If you love comedy and martial arts, this one's for you.

A fun. Family film of silly humour
The preposterous storyline is of no matter in this film, which is definitely of its era. Pantomime humour combined with martial art moves, this film was highly enjoyed by my football-loving sons (ages 12 and 14) and husband. I derived as much enjoyment from hearing their howls of laughter as I did the film itself!

Great fun film
Got this when I purchased Kung-fu Hustle and watched it first just to keep things chronologically correct. Hugely enjoyable and entertaining film, but sadly the effects are appearing a little bit dated already. There's a moment in Kung-fu hustle where a bit of fancy football footwork is employed quickly followed by the ball being punctured and a voice over "no more football" a direct reference to Shaolin Soccer apparently. Never mind. KF Hustle is head and shoulders above Shaolin Soccer, but as a point of reference to see where Mr Chow is coming from it's essential viewing and great entertainment in its own right. Buy it and enjoy it!

don't buy this version
This is not the full version. Some scenes were cut, I am not sure why. For example, there was a scene where they dance in front of the bread shop, that scene was edited. Some music tracks are also changed. I watched this movie when I was younger and it was great. They edited some funny parts out. If you buy this version, you are not getting the whole experience!!!
