Very easy install. Fired right up
I installed this on a 1974 F250 with a .360 engine a year and a half ago and have had absolutely no issues with it. Very easy install. Fired right up, and still does today. A little better gas mileage, and runs better with more pep than the standard point set that was on it. No modifications necessary to install- dropped right in place and wired up easily. Did some research, reviewed the Accel units ( a bit more expensive), went with thie pertronix due to the positive reviews; reilaibility, ease of install, and Pertronix product quality reputation. I think we paid about $24.00 on Amazon, got a great deal on this one to say the least! I had my doubts over such an inexpensive and easy to install kit, but its been running excellent since the day I installed it. Very pleased with the quality, install process, and performance.

Pertronix for 1970 F100
So, the Pertronix unit along with the Blaster coil works great. My 390 FE engine fired right up and runs/idles smooth. BUT, the one I received from Amazon had definitely been opened and had a wrong part inside the box. Right number but wrong part. Wouldn’t fit my distributor. Sent it back and Amazon returned my money. I just bought one from my local Oreilly’s which had the right part inside the box. Worked like a champ. Wired around the resistor wire so there is full 12 volts to the Pertronix unit and to the coil.

Stock 1971 F-250 distributor upgrade.
***EDIT***Still running well. The Truck isn't a daily driver and did sit for a year and a half. At almost 4 years old it now runs the new 390 upgrade and it feels good. no stumbles. These are such a great way to upgrade an old points system to a great firing and higher power system. That said.... I am going to buy a second one as a back up. I keep a coil, solenoid, voltage regulator, and some other parts in the Truck at all times. These old rigs always had something going on and yes these will fail. I'll be happy to have a spare, I can field repair most anything and keep her on the road.Super happy with this purchase!Easy install in a 1971 F-250. Stock 360 and distributor. I got behind the dash and cut the resistor wire and spliced a nice replacement wire to it. The pink wire is your balast/resistor wire for stock applications. You can connect to it but it’s bringing 9-10 volts to the coil. After trimming mine I have maybe 2” of the original and good copper from there to the coil giving me 13-14 volts.

Drops in in minutes
I have a 1974 f750 with a 391. I had concerns the unit they sent me wouldn't fit. Tech was very helpful and made sure it was right for the application. When I went to install it it was easier than replacing the points. It uses standard rotor and cap. It fired right up and runs noticeably better. There are high energy ignitions but for my truck this was easy, economical, reliable and performs much better than a standard ignition. It's five star for me, a rare thing.

Works great but be careful!
I have had this in my truck for going on 6 months now, yesterday I left the key on for about an hour (my mistake) and the unit MELTED. I'm lucky this thing didn't burn my truck down. I just ordered a second one and will be more careful with it. Other than my failure to follow their instruction of not leaving the key on the unit performed perfectly!

Works great
I was going to adjust the points in my 1965 Ford Mustang, but decided to give this a try instead of buying a dwell meter. Some people report that they were able to just hook it to the factory wiring (pink resistor wire) that connects to the + side of the coil. I tried that but it would not work correctly on mine since it had a lot of misses. To test the difference I took an alligator clip and hook it to the positive side of the battery for 12V and started the car. It ran much smoother and idled a lot higher. I then ran a 16 gauge wire from the red/green wire by the ignition switch before the pink wire. After I started it I noticed my idle was still much higher, so I had to adjust my idle screw all the way out. I am going to have to adjust my throttle linkage to get the idle right. Also, I am going to have to check my timing to make sure it is around 8 degrees since I have a stock engine.

Always switch from the old points
Very happy with the product. So far so good on this 63 F350...hasn't run in a long time. I opted for Pertronix rather than a new Chinese distributor.
