Behrens Galvanized Steel Trash Can, 31-Gallon

over the past year have tried a variety of can types. first tried to go with a less expensive, under $20, hard plastic can. terrible, those fall over constantly and the lids barely stay on when warm let alone cold. the next type went with a different style but same material and same problems. then went and spent $40 on a much better 'soft' plastic trash can. no issues with that one at all other than it costs so much and that was without a lid. then two weeks ago after searching the nearby fields for our plastic cans decided to try something different, old school metal cans. I wasn't sure what to expect but was VERY pleased once they arrived and i saw what i was getting. very good quality steel can. a flat bottom with just enough weight so it won't go flying off or fall over in the wind. back to the quality i would not be surprised to have these new cans of ours last a decade or more. unlike plastic or rubber it won't degrade over time. the handles are welded to the can but are made so that they pivot for you when lifting. if you get a dent in a can or lid it pops out easily like new. i will never waste another dime on other types of garbage cans. of the four types tried these are by far the best!

I use these for several purposes. I have four for different bird seed, one of cat food, one for dog food, and use some to keep boxed foods in to keep the mice out. Also keep some pots and pans in them to keep the mice away from them. The mice are really bad and although the house resembles a trash can outlet to some degree, these really do protect the pet, bird and human food from the damn mice. I have just gotten to where I store everything I don't want nibbled on or crapped on or peed on by mice in one of these or in a heavy duty storage bin. And think I might have finally found a good mouse repellent but with the house completely surrounded by pastures and rodents, know it will be an on-going battle as long as I live here. And, yes, I do have cats. But they are fat and lazy and will not help me fight the mice. They totally ignore the mice.

This can is perfect; just what I was looking for and needed. I am organizing my shed and in one corner I have an accumulation of shovels, rakes, sledge hammers, brooms, etc. all shoved into one corner. I ordered this beautiful 31 gallon metal can and put EVERYTHING that was in that corner inside the can. I love the lid but I put it aside because it isn't needed. The can holds everything, with room for more . It is now so nice to go inside the shed, go to the metal can and pull out whatever tool I need. All so neatly organized. Thank you. My shed now looks clean and neat!

Can and lid were dented upon receiving. I contacted the company who said contact Amazon. I initiated an Amazon return to pick up can. Can was left accessable for UPS. Label was left in mailbox without taking the can. Amazon suggested cancelling the return, and initiate a new one. It still didn't get picked up. I was told to cancel, and start a return again. Now it's past the time, and I can't return. The can is dented, and the lid is dented so it doesn't fit properly. Very disappointed in customer support, and Amazon support. I have a useless can. It is very thin material, and a nightmare to get returned. Large box doesn't fit in a small car. Waste of money

So back in the day the Ultimate Warrior was known to take one or two of these to the face when in the ring against someone like Razor Ramone. I always wondered where you got these bad boys and then I saw that this gem qualified for Prime. I got it just in time for a party I was hosting and wanted a pretty stand out trash can. But first, I had to use this for two things. One, surprise a co-pro-wrestling fan and tell him that Earthquake was behind him and when he turned back around, I smashed this bad boy right over his head. Caused him to suffer a little pain but otherwise he was fine. Second, I totally used the lid like a shield against a mock sword attack. Mind you that I'm um, a highly paid professional but everyone has to live out childish fantasies from time to time. So when it came time for the party, I just knocked out the dents that us 30-somethings put into it and it was good as new. Highly recommended.

that I ordered this garbage can a few months ago, after fighting a losing battle with the local wildlife...mainly, squirrels. They were constantly in my Rubbermaid cans...chewing through the lids, and the bottoms...tipping them over, and ripping into my trash bags. This can, has solved the problem. I put any food related trash into THIS can...I have a bungee cord that runs through the handle on top of the lid, and attaches to each side handle, but...I probably don't really need it, the lid attaches well enough. The can itself, is made of fairly thin metal...so, I don't put it at the curb for the collectors to destroy...that's what the plastic ones are for, the trash bag comes OUT of the metal can the morning the garbage men are due, it goes into the plastic can, and out to the curb. My metal can stays shiney, and dent-free...and saves me from having to pick up trash in my yard throughout the week. I need another!

Good size for storing pet food bags . Holds 2 or 3 large bags and keeps our rats, raccoons and water. Lid fits tight. Keeping in garage.

I brought two of these steel trash cans for the backyard outside for better protection from raccoons, possums, and any other wood animals that like to tear up trash and eat thru the plastic bins like their first cousins with Jaws. So far I'm really liking them. They look good they're very light when empty of course and I don't think they will be penetrated by teeth as easy as the plastic or rubber bins. They are not the biggest but there not the small either so two should do just find for my weekly trash storage and yes they come with a lid inside the box. I also brought two locks and two 4 ft bike chains to lock the top of lids to the side handles. I will update if fail me in this future summer to come but for now so far so good. Oh yeah I got some pics too of different angles so y'all can get a better feel of what talking about. I hope my review help

Exactly what I needed in large size. Hard to find in stores.

A little lighter weight than I expected, but still fantastic value for money. Overall, I'm extremely happy with them...using them for feed bins in the barn.

This is perfect for my needs. I use it for my winter compost. It sits just outside my patio door. I can add as needed and don't have to walk far.

no lid!
