Yes, it works with Square Register flawlessly.
First off let me assure everyone that this thing is not a piece of garbage as others have reported. The plastic is not cheap and the unit is put together perfectly. That being said, care should be taken not to place anywhere near the edge of a counter as this scanner is very light and the slightest movement could send it flying away. There is a lanyard included, and I suppose you could wear it around your neck if you wanted. My box did not come with documentation however all downloads can be had at the manufacturers website. I use square register and the scanner works perfectly. Setup was a snap. Open Square register and go to settings. Select add a Bluetooth scanner and follow directions. That easy. My scanner scans very quickly and I foresee no bottlenecks as others have complained of.

This scanner is amazing!!
For starters, it's very tiny, so I am glad it came with a lanyard. But this scanner does a big job! We use it for our fundraiser event that last for 5 days and I love love love it! Best investment my club has made to go with the square and love how I can use it with Bluetooth so I'm not chained to one area. Works great in the space that we have. I would totally recommend and purchase another one if we needed to. We only have one square register right now, but if we invest in more, I'll for sure get another scanner.I wished it worked with iPhones but I extremely satisfied with it!

Scanner
The scan option, shooting the laser, is a little sl;ow. Since we use the unit for large inventories that bogs us down a bit. It frequently doesn't read the code on the first try so you have to hold the trigger and wait a couple of seconds to get it to take. Battery life is shorter than expected.Other than that it was easy to pair with the ipad and does what a scanner should do.

Little item for big work
This item is fantastic. I do arts and crafts shows and have developed bar codes for my inventory in Square Store. Rather than having to price each item with a tag or looking it up all I need to do is point and shoot and it is registered. Several of my customers at the show thought it was great since I was the only one with a scanner. Size is great also. I had a Square Stand and it had a scanner but it was attached via USB, took quite a bit of space. This is bluetooth connection and I no longer need my stand.

Great device to enable book scouting with a smart phone.
If you want to be a book scouter and get a device that works with your smart phone go with this. The battery lasts forever and they handy little cord/lanyard they send it with makes it easy to clip to my purse so I don't loose it. Sometimes I have to scan multiple times before it picks up the bar code but that isn't the case on every book. I use to use a PDA with a scanner inserted but one it was easy to loose and too it's more expensive because you probably already have a smart phone.

The worst product that I have recently encountered
The most poorly designed device I have ever seen. It looks like it was manufactured in Bizzaro world by an employee with Apple who was fired the first day. Poorly made, cheap looking and feeling, poor packaging. Poor instructions. They provide two batteries and a caution: "Important-do not use alkaline batteries". SO you have to buy Nickel-Cadmium. Which of course are difficult to obtain. So they kindly provide two, made, perhaps, by undernourished 7 year olds in Singapore.OH and after you put the batteries in they tell you you have to charge it for 5-7 hours!! ARE THEY CRAZY? They kindly provide you a USB cord and tell you NOT to use a computer to charge it. And they give you no AC "block" within with to plug the USB cable (undoubtedly 2.0). So be sure you have one in your pocket which can be painful! These people are either quite cheap and wish to make a profit margin of AT LEAST 1000% or they are simply dumb as a rock.Whether it works or not, you will feel like a fool preparing it. Maybe THAT is what they want. Who knows? But I am about to go on a rant. So I will stop here.

Excellent Product
My company uses these in conjunction with Square and iPad2's at our off-site sales events. While it was a little confusing getting it set up the first time (you have to scan the correct barcode to get it programmed for iOS before connecting the device), I can't say enough how much our team likes using these. They're light, the batteries last all day, the provided retractable lanyards are very convenient, and the whole system makes the user experience pleasant and fast. Big thumbs up!

Bad in sunny conditions. Scanning distance poor. Feels cheap.
The scanner performs well in low or normal light conditions, but the performance outside in the sun is not so good. I used the 7P model for over 3 years, and loved that scanner. The scanning beam was narrow and crisp, and it had no problem scanning in all conditions. It was also able to scan easily up to about 4 feet, where the 7CX is only good to about 6 inches at best. The 7CX beam is wider and rather fuzzy, and the sun just eats it up. The beam also spreads out too much for scaning at any distance. It is also lighter, and feels cheap compared to the 7P. My company does not support the newer 7Pi, so I have no choice, I have to use the 7CX. If you have the choice, spend the extra $150.00 for the 7Pi, you will thank me.
