Metal Hand Corn Sheller

Corn sheller
I remember my Grandfather telling me about the sheller that came out and made getting the corn off the cob without making your hands bleed over 30 years ago. I think this is just what he was talking about. I had no experience with getting the dry corn off the cobs until I grew some this year. I thought of his story. Small enough to put in your pocket so you always have it handy. This is small. Don’t think I would put it in my pocket. But different times and fashions. I had some smaller cobs I still had to do by hand but the bigger and drier cobs worked best. I can see where if you had to do a lot by hand that your hands would bleed. Even better it is made in the USA and didn’t break the bank! Great little product just like Grandpa said.

This worked great for my dent corn.
I go to our local historical farm every year to pick corn. Last year I finally bought a sheller for my dent/indian corn. I wish I had done so sooner. It makes quick work out of an arduous task. I also highly recommend the smaller size for popcorn.

Cheap and works
What can I say? It's an old fashioned corn sheller made from cast aluminum. You can't break it. It works just fine.

Hand shells dried corn well for small amounts and larger cobs.
This hand held device shells small amounts of dried corn on the cob well. It is not good if you are shelling large amounts as your hand and wrist will tire quickly. But it is much better than thumb and rubbing cobs together approach! The interior taper is designed for large cobs. Small cobs and kernels like popcorn must be run through at an awkward angle. My only other problem was that I bought it as a surprise birthday present. When it arrived the return address said "Pets and Vets". Since I ordered it from "Country Animal & Home" I didn't recognize the package. It was unfortunately opened it in front of the birthday person. Oh well, early B-day gift!

Best. Tool. Ever. Simple and functional.
We have a small homestead/farm - grew our own square of field corn last year and hand shelled dried corn - only had a little bit to do because of rats, so it wasn't bad. This year we got rid of the pests and had a lot more to shell. Wanted to get a fancy hand crank one, but it was out of our budget and a little bit of overkill for a 10x20 plot of corn. Doing it by hand was a bit painful after a few cobs and some cobs were really hard to do.Enter this little device - low price, simple design, no mechanical bits to break. Shells a cob of corn in 10-20 seconds depending on size and how tightly the kernels are in there. Here is our batch (see photo) - 2 half gallon mason jars, 2 quart mason jars, and about 8 cups ground and ready for the freezer!Highly recommend for anyone who is growing small batches of field corn and doesn't want the expense or size of a full sized corn sheller.

Light weight and works
I took 6 to the Philippines for my friends that farm. They have shelled off the corn cornels by hand for years. When they first used it. they all most cried with happiness it went SO fast. They said that their hand would bled from doing all the corn by hand

Perfect for the job at hand
I love this corn sheller. It is strong enough to take the kernels off of the corn cob quickly and easily. The size fits my hand comfortably and it is easy to store when not in use.
