Can this tool be used for crimping 1/4" ID Argon hose (rubber, one-braided), max working pressure 200psi?

Yes it will work.. I don't remember the exact ferrule # for the hose.. may have to measure it.. I have it wrote down in my kit

are there larger dies? I am looking for the .76 one (I thin it is #8 on the line)

Milton offers 2 additional dies, 7/16" and 13/16".

We are looking to crimp a .310 od (.255 id) ferrule on to a .244 (1/4") dia multi layerd steel cable. will the tool crimp this diameter?

I’m not sure I have only used them on rubber air lines.

The description says this product crimps ferrules on hose ranging from 1/4" single braid to 3/8" two braid hose. Is that I.D.dimension hose?

I believe those are IDs yes. The tool can do more than just crimp those hoses with those IDs. Mine came with 5 Dies. when you are getting ferrules make sure they are the proper size and not too large to fit into any of the dies the tool is listed to come with. obviously if the ferrule is too big, let say 5/8" or 0.625" and you have a die inside the tool designed to take .5" then it is not going to work. crimping and ferrules have more to do about the outside dimension of the hose rather than the inner dimension.
