The Essential Ken Wilber: An Introductory Reader

Very good introductory reading on Ken Wilber.
This book is only a collection of excerpts of some of Ken Wilber's books, but I think it met its purpose. Out of five books I have from the author, I made a good decision to begin reading his work by choosing this one as my first one.Of course, a warning is given by the editor Kendra Crossen Burroughs in the introduction or prologue of this book by making it clear that..."despite Wilber's skill in explaining complex philosophical ideas, much of his work is written for a professional or academic audience and remains beyond the reach of more casual readers". And that's true. I don't consider myself an expert in philosophy or psychology, but I have read and studied some of the most serious and respected modern --20th century--philosophers and psychologists and I find Ken Wilber as one of the most bright and knowledgeable thinkers of present time.I enjoyed very much the readings on "Buddhism and the Stages of Development", "One Hand Clapping", and to close this book, the "Spiritual Unfolding". Wilber makes some of the most complex ideas and concepts very clear and understandable. I hope his other books, which I will eventually read, be as interesting and didactic as this one.

highly readable
This is my first book written by ken wilber and I find the book an excellent summary of spiritual thoughts and ideas which he seems to have worked on his journey to build a worldview that is rational and inclusive. I would recommend the book to any one who is interested to understand various viewpoints across the religious, spiritual framework. I have been exploring the spectrum of consciousness and the book, though written in a brief summary form, is worth reading.

Excellent supplement
This an excellent supplement text to Ken Wilburs. It can be used as an introduction, but I think it best serves someone who who read at least one of Wilburs books. Familiarity with Wilburs vocabulary and ideas makes life easier when reading excerpts.I use this book as a quick look up reference. Sometimes a refresher, often identifying whick of Wilbur texts I'm thinking of.

Unfortunately, this book turned out to be much too basic for me. I'm well past the primer stage with Wilber.

The Essential by Ken Wilber
This book is give an insight to self awareness and the Yoga that awakes the human life chakra. This book gives insight understanding our mind awakes from a deep sleep to stages of consciousness to self conscious. This is ware magic of rational reality awake in a person. The book is much based from Hindu Vadic culture and Buddhism of conscious awakening, However in the book it referrers how many of the Weston European psychologist have used much these theory within they work to psychology and understanding the human mind and behaviour to rationalise reality to the situation and life as we live in.This book looks at Weston and Easton theory from past to present to psychology of life and others.

Deluded
This man is deluded. He misquotes, generalises, assumes and ignores as best suits his 'theory of anything goes'. It's pick'n'mix new age hokum.
